WEEK 29

UNIT 17: HOW MUCH IS THE T-SHIRT?

Lesson 1: (1,2) I. Objectives: After the lesson Ss will be able to:

Asking and answering questions about prices of clothes( singular). Develop:

Speaking and listening skills.

Ss look after , solve problems and study themselves.

Studious and obedient students and love their friends.

II. Language focus:

Vocabulary: T- shirt, skirt, blouse, jumper, scarf...

Sentence patterns: - How much is the...? - It’s...

III. Teaching methods:

Communicative approach.

Techniques: Ask and answer (say individually);Work in pairs/

groups;Discuss.

IV. Resources: CD and radio, students’ book V. Procedure:

Teacher s and Students activities ’ ’ Content 1. Warm up

* Have Ss play the game: Chatting about color game.

1. Look listen and repeat .

- Ask Ss look at the pictures and listen to the dialogue in their books.

- Point to the Ss and ask Ss look at the text in speech bubbles.

- Play the recording for Ss listen - Ask them repeat a few times.

- Repeat the procedure with the second picture.

- Play the recording through.

- Practice with Ss.

- Ask Ss practice in pairs.

- Go round and check Ss can repeat and understand the dialogue.

2. Point and say.

- Tell Ss that they are going to practise saying. And responding to the greeting.

- Point to each character in the pictures and elicit his/her name and the words to fill the gaps.

- Write the whole sentences on the board.

- Have Ss repeat the sentences a few times.

- Repeat the procedure with the second pic.

- Ask Ss work in pairs.

- Call some pairs practice in front of the class.

- Check Ss’ mistake when necessary.

- Pair work. Ss practise in pairs.

- Call on some pairs to perform the task at the front of the class. The rest of the class observe and give comments if possible.

- Make a few questions to check Ss’ comprehension of the language.

- Have the whole class repeat all the phrases in chorus to reinforce their pronunciation.

Lesson 1 (3,4,5) I. Objectives:

Review: Asking and answering questions about prices of clothes( singular and plural). Develop: Listening and writing skills.

Ss look after , solve problems and study themselves.

Studious and obedient students and love their friends.

II. Language focus:

Vocabulary: review about clothing words Sentence patterns: about price.

III. Teaching methods:

Communicative approach.

Techniques: Ask and answer (say individually);Work in pairs/

groups;Discuss.

IV. Teaching aids:

Teacher’s aids: student’s and teacher’s book, word cards, pictures, puppets.

Students’ aids: books, notebooks, workbooks.

V. Procedure:

* Have Ss play the game: Where and why 3. Listen and tick.(10’)

Tell ps that they are going to listen to 3 conversations and tick the correct pics.

- Focus their attention on the pics and ask Qs to check their comprehension: What is this? What can you see in the picture?

- Tell the class that they are going to look and write the corect answers.

- Give them time to read the questions and answers in silence. Remind them to underline the key words and phrases in the answers to compare with the information in the passage.

- Get Ps to compare their answer in pairs before checking as a class. Give explanations, if necessary.

-Tell the class that they are going to playPelmanism. Practise the names of the subjects

and the frequency expresstions with them first.

Display the pictures on the board as in the Student’s Book. Then ask two groups of four pupils to stand at the board. Call out the subjects or frequency expresstions for the groups to slap. The slower group is out and the quicker group will play against a new group. The team that stays in the game until the end is the winer.

- Have the class make sentences with the names of the subjects and the frequency expresstions.

II. Language focus:

Phonics: the stress marks(’) of words:’ sandals,’ trousers,’ jumper,’jacket.

III. Teaching methods:

Communicative approach.

Techniques: Ask and answer (say individually);Work in pairs/

groups;Discuss.

IV. Resources: CD and radio, students’ book V. Procedure:

1. Listen and repeat.

- Have the class look at the pictures. Introduce the story by pointing at each character and elicit their answers to these questions : Who’s this ? Who is he / she talking with ? What are they talking about ?

- Play the recording all the way through for the class to listen and follow in their books. Play it again for them to repeat line by line. Finally, point to each picture for them to say the words in

each bubble.

- Tell Ss that they are going to practice asking and asnwering questions about lessons , using How much is the T-shirt?

- Ask the question How much is the T-shirt? for the class to answers chorally.

- Have pupil practice the question and answer in pairs. Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary.

- Invite one or two pairs to act out the dialogues in front of the class.

3. Let’s talk.

- Tell Ps that they are going to practise further by asking and answering questions about lessons.

- Get Ps to work in groups of four to ask and answer.

- Set a time limit for the class to practise. Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary.

- Invite a few pairs to act out their conversations.

They can make up the number of lessons they have so that each pair will have difference answers. Then give feedback.

- Play the recording all the way through for Ps to listen and do the task. Play it again for them to do the task.

- Get them to compare their answer before checking as a class.. Give explanations for the answers which Ps find difficult. Play the recording again to confirm the answers
