UNIT 3: A TRIP TO THE COUNTRYSIDE I. Trọng tâm kiến thức, kỹ năng:

1. Topic:

- Countryside 2. Competences:

- Describing the countryside

- Asking for and giving information about life and activities in the countryside.

- Speaking: Ask for and give information about the geography of one’s home country. Describe directions / location

- Listening: Listen to monologues / dialogues within 130-150 words for general or detailed information.

- Reading: Read passages within 150-180 words for general or detailed information

- Writing:Talk about a picnic to the country 4. Grammar:

LESSON 1: LISTEN AND READ, SPEAK a) A.Objectives:

1. Knowledge:

- By the end of the lesson, ss will be able to read the text for details to know more about country life and activities; practice asking and answering about home village 2. Skills:

- Practice comprehension reading skill and speaking skill.

3. Attitude:

- Help ss to have good awareness in order to practice reading for detalis, doing some exercises.

- Love the life in the countryside.

B. Teaching- aids:

Lesson plan, textbooks, tape and computer.

C. Methods:

- Some techniques can be used: Chatting, Guiding questions, True or false statements, Comprehension questions.

- Ask students some questions about the countryside:

+ Do you live the countryside?

+ Do you like living here?

- Sts give real answers III. New lesson(35’) Step 1. Pre - reading (8’)

* Pre- teach:

- listen and repeat (chorally then individually).

Checking vocabulary : What and where.

- Draw circles and write every new word in each circle.

- Ask students to repeat the words chorally, then rub out word by word but leave the circles

- Go on until all the circles are empty.

Get students to go to the board and write the words in the correct circles.

Step 2. While - reading (15’)

* Guiding questions:

- Ask students to read while listening to the text on page 22, 23 to answers the questions.

* True or false statements:

-Ask students to read the statements on page 23 then read the text and decide which is true and which is false.

You are going to work in pair to play the role of two people: Ask and answer about your partner’s home village using the information given.

- Show the questions and information.

Help Sts run through the questions and information.

Step 3. Pre- speaking(7’)

- Divide Sts into pairs to practice asking and answering about their partner’s home village using the information given.

- Then get some volunteer pairs practice in front of the class.

- Give feedback, correction.

- Have Ss work in pairs and guess about the differences between life on American farms and Vietnamese ones , Using the suggested questions :

- Call on some pairs to demonstrate their ideas .
