UNIT 14: WONDERS OF THE WORLD.

I. Aims of the unit:

- Helping students:

- To seek information

- To recognize and correct mistakes - To prepare and complete a questions.

- To write a letter to a friends - Teaching grammar structures

+ Passive forms

+ Indirect questions with if and whether + Question words before to-infinitives + Verb + to-infinitives

- Ss will be able to practice: Speaking, listening, writing and reading skills II. Teaching aids:

- Text book, pictures, posters, cards, real objects, tape, cassette…

III. Procedure:

Lesson 1: Getting started, Listen and read Lesson 2: Speak + Listen

Lesson 3: Read Lesson 4: Write

Lesson 5: Language focus 1, 4 Lesson 6: Language focus 2, 3

Date of preparing: April 23rd 2021 Period 90th Week: 31st

UNIT 14: WONDERS OF THE WORLD.

LESSON 1 – GETTING STARTED + LISTEN AND READ A. Aims of the lesson:

1. Knowledge:

- By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to seek a language game to complete a summary, get to practice in reading to seek information.

- By the end of the lesson, students will be able to know more about famous places throughout playing the game.

*. Language focus:

a) Vocabulary: The words about the wonders of the world; the Pyramids, Sydney Opera House ….

b) Grammar: Verb + to – infinite, Grammar Awareness 2. Skills:

- Develop Ss’ listening and reading skills.

*. Kĩ năng sống cần giáo dục:

- Hướng dẫn cho h/s có khả năng tư duy và phê phán cao, biết nhận thức và đánh giá được nét đẹp của những kỳ quan thế giới.

- Tích cực lắng nghe để biết được nguồn gốc và cả những nét nổi bật của các kỳ quan là gì.

- Tự tin trong việc thực hành nâng cao khả năng dựa trên bài mẫu để giới thiệu về một kỳ quan của đất nước Việt Nam.

3. Attitude:

- Help Ss to interested in this subject.

- Actively practice the role of characters to read articles and practice individual reading skills, thereby understanding the content of the text.

4. Knowledge should be achieved:

+) Qualified: Stating names of some famous wonders in the world stated in the listening and reading text. Practice rereading and summarizing the text through Summery.

+) Advanced: Pretty good students can use the sample in the book to talk about a wonder in Vietnam.

5. Teach for student with disabilities:

- Teach student will be able to know more about famous places in Viet Nam and famous places in the world.

- Listening then read the passage about some places in Viet Nam.

- Answer the questions about the places.

B. Teaching aids: Textbooks, cassette, boards, posters, lesson plan, pictures, chart ..

Teacher: textbook, poster, pictures

Students: textbook, notebook, pens, rulers.

C. Methods:

- Individual work, pair work, groups work.

- Brainstorming, ROR, gap-fill, matching, ordering D. Procedure:

I. Class management: (01 minute)

II. Warm up: (05 minutes) *. Brainstorming - T elicits from the Ss: Wonders of the world

Suggestions: - The Pyramids - Great Wall - Ha Long Bay - Hue Citadel - Eiffel Tower…..

III. New lesson: (39’)

Teacher’s and students’ activities On the board 1. PRE-READING: (10’)

- Present new words and then guide Ss to read them in chorus

- Check vocabulary by technique “ROR”

- Students with disabilities can listen and repeat the new words.

- Copy down in the notebook.

- Set the scene" Nga, Nhi, Hoa are playing a language game called guessing game. How does this game work?

Rearrange the statements in the right order of the game.

- Put the statements on the chart.

- Ask Ss to read the statements and put them in the right order.

I. Vocabulary:

- ( to ) be bored: buồn chán - (to) guess (v): dự đoán - (to) predict (v): ngăn chặn - a clue (explanation): manh mối - (to) suggest (v): gợi ý

II. Ordering prediction:

How to play the guessing game

1. B asks questions to find out who or what it is.

2. A think of a famous person or place.

3. A give B a clue.

- Students with disabilities can answer the questions then copy in notebook.

- Ask Ss to open their books and read the dialogue.

- Check if Ss ' answers are right or not.

2. WHILE-READING: (15’)

- Have Ss read the dialogue again and complete the summary (2).

- Ask Ss to compare their answers with their partners.

* Grammar Awareness

- Elicit the target language by asking Ss a question ( in Vietnamese )

* Model sentences :

- Students with disabilities can answer the questions then copy in notebook.
