Lesson 1(4-5-6) I. Objectives:

- After the lesson, Ss will be able to:

- Use the words and phrases related to the topic Introduction themselves.

- Ask and answer questions about one’s name.

- Be interested in learning English II. Teaching aids:

- Record, cassette, plan, teacher’s book, students’ book and workbook III. Teaching method:

- Work in pairs and work in groups - Communicative approach

Revising : What’s your name?

- Work in pairs or individuals to act out the asking and answering questions about one’s name in front of the class.

Act 2: Listen and tick.

- Ask Ss to look at the pictures: What are they doing?

- Tell ps that they are going to listen and tick the correct boxes under the pictures.

- Draw their attention to the pictures.

- Elicit the name of the characters.

- Have ps repeat them once or twice.

- Play the recording through for Ss to listen.

- Play the recording again for Ss to listen and tick the correct answers.

- Ask Ss to exchange their answers with their partners before reporting them to the class.

- Correct, remark.

- Play the recording again to Ss repeat follow.

- Ask Ss to read individually silently and complete the dialogues.

- Elicit the words filling the gaps. Remind ps to write the initial letter of the word at the beginning of each sentences in capital letters.

- Allow ps time to do the task. Go around to offer help if necessary.

- Ask Ss to read their answers aloud to the class.

- Correct, remark and give

- Have the whole class read each line of the dialogues chorally to reinforce their pronunciation.

Act 4: Let’s sing.

- Ask Ss to open their Student’s book on page 13.

Stick the large- sized sheet of paper with the sing on page 7 on the board. Tell them that they are going to sing The Alphabet song.

- Play the recording all the way through for Ss to get familiarized

- Play the recording once more for Ss to repeat the whole song.

- Call on some Ss to sing the song in front of the class. The rest of the class clap their hands at rhythms.

VI: Summary:

- Have Ss learn how to introduce themselves - Educate Ss to ask and answer about one’s name

Act 1: Warm up.

- Get the class sing the Alphabet song again.

- Sing a song.

Act 2: Look, listen and repeat.

- Introduce picture and ask some questions about the situations in the picture:

+ Who are they in the picture?

+ Where are they?

- Check understanding.

- Procedure the first picture and explain what they say.

- Repeat the procedure with the second picture.

- T plays the recording through for Ss to listen to the dialogue.

- T plays the recording again, pausing after each line for Ss to repeat.

- T divides the class into two groups: one group to repeat Nam’s and the Linda’s part.

- Call on Ss to practise in front of the class.

- Correct, remark.

Act 3: Point and say.

- Ask ps look at the pictures Spell(mime)

- Tell ps that they are going to practise saying : How do you spell you name?

- Point to each character in the picture and elicit his/

her name.

- Write the whole sentences on the board.

- Have ps repeat the sentences a few times.

- Repeat the procedure with the second picture.

Ask ps work in pairs.

- Call some pairs practice in front of the class.

- Check ss’ mistake when necessary.

- Teacher gives the correct answer.

- Have ps play the Slap the board game, using the name of the characters: Miss Hien, Linda, Peter, Quan, Sarah.

Act 2: Listen and number

- Pre- listen : Ask Ss to tell about the differences between the pic.

+ Tell Ss the way to listen

While listen: + Ask Ss to listen to the tape and choose , number the right pic

- Listen and write the number in the picture you hear.

+ Play the tape three times to listen.

+ Listen and number the mentioned pictures.

+ Listen and give the correct

- Check the answer , open the tape once and check.
