UNIT 6: THE YOUNG PIONEERS CLUB 1. Mục tiêu: Sau khi hoàn thành bài học, học sinh có thể

- Nói về kế hoạch, dự định trong tương lai.

- Yêu cầu để được giúp đỡ.

- Đưa ra đề nghị để giúp đỡ người khác.

2. Trọng tâm ngôn ngữ:

- Present simple with future meaning - Gerunds

- Modals: may, can, could

3. Từ vựng: Các từ theo chủ điểm: Young pioneers club.

- To encourage, to register…

- an application, citizenship, co-education, voluntary…

* Lưu ý: Đối với học sinh yếu cần nắm được cách nói:

Yêu cầu được giúp đỡ (asking for favors) và cách đáp lại.

Đưa ra đề nghị giúp đỡ người khác (offering assistance).

- Học sinh khá có thể làm một bài đối thoại tương tự theo tình huống cho sẵn.

- Bài viết 2 có thể giao về nhà cho học sinh hoàn thành.

4. Kỹ năng cần đạt:

- Nêu được câu yêu cầu, đề nghị giúp đỡ, trả lời các câu yêu cầu, đề nghị.

- Nghe điền từ thiếu vào chỗ trống.

- Đọc hiểu lấy thông tin chi tiết.

- Viết thư đơn giản về một dự định, kế hoạch dựa vào từ gợi ý.

5. Unit plan:

Lesson 1: (Listen and read + Language Focus 2) Reading for details and practice in gerunds used after the verbs: love, like, hate.

Lesson 2: (Speak a + Language Focus 3a ) Practice asking for favors and responding to favors, practicing offering and responding to assistance.

Lesson 3: (Listen + Speak b + LF 3b) Listening to a song for details.

Lesson 4: (Read 1,2-a-f) Reading for details about The Youth Union of Vietnamese

Lesson 5: (Write) Writing a letter about the future plan.

Lesson 6: ( Getting started + Language Focus 1) Further practice in simple present tense with future meaning.

LESSON 1: LISTEN AND READ, LANGUAGE FOCUS 2 A. Objectives:

1.The aims of the lesson

By the end of the lesson ss will be able to listen and read a dialogue to know about the things that ss have to do when enrolling for an activity at school in the summer

2. Knowledge.

- Standard: Practice the dialogue and complete Nga’s details - Higher: Ask some questions about Nga

3. Language focus

+ Vocabulary: enrol(v) + for ; application form(n); fill (v); hobby(n) ; draw(v);

sign(v); bring(v); interest(n)

+ Structures : - Past simple tense, present simple with future meaning - Gerunds: V(ing)

- Modal: may, can, could

4. Skills: concentrate on listening and speaking skills

5. Attitude: Educate ss to learn hard and take part in outdoor activities regularly B. Techniques: Chatting, wordcue drill, write-it-up

Step 1: Pre - reading (8’)

* Vocabulary

Today, we are going to read the dialogue about activities in the summer. Let's start with some new words.

- Games that you play in the open air rather than in a building or a house such as football , tennis ..

* Checking: Rub out and remember

Step 2: While- reading (17’) Listen and read the dialogue:

Set the scene “ Nga is a student in grade eight. She wants to enroll in the activities for the summer.“

( use computer + screen) - Ask Ss to listen and read the dialogue at the same time.

- Get Ss to work in pairs and complete Nga,s particulars.

( use computer + screen) - Give feedback

- Ask Ss some questions to check their understanding:

+ What is her name ? + What does she live ? + When was she born ? + What are her hobbies ? - Note:

She likes drawing, outdoor activities

and she also enjoys acting.

* Survey ( use computer + screen) - Ask Ss to copy down the chart . - Ask sts to work in pairs to ask their friends and tick on the chart - Give feedback by asking Ss to report their friends, hobbies

Eg: Nam loves playing soccer. He doesn't like cooking and hates washing dishes.

* Form:

S + like, love, enjoy, hate + (gerund)

* Use: after some verbs: like, love, enjoy, hate, mind
