Unit 13: WOULD YOU LIKE SOME MILK?

Lesson 1: Part 1,2,3

I. Objectives: Students will be able to use the words and phrases, asking and answering questions about favourite food and drink.

Language focus: New words: favourite, food, fish, chicken, drink, beef, pork, orange juice, milk.

Sentence patterns: - What’s your favourite _____________?

-> It’s ________________ .

II. Resources: Ss’ book, recordings, pictures, puppets, flash cards.

- Ss look at pictures to discuss the contexts in which the language is used.

- Ask them to look at the four pictures and to identify the context in which the language is used.

- Set the scene: Mai and Tom are at the school cantin, looking at the manu and talking about food and drink.

- Check comprehension

- Tell Ss that they are going to find out about how to ask and answer question about favourite food and drink.

2.Point and say: (15 minutes)

- Ss look at the pictures to understand how the language is used in different contexts.

- T guides the context: You are going to have lunch with some friends.

- Have them look at the bubbles to understand how to use the language.

- Ask them to look at the pictures to identify what the people do in each picture.

- Ss say the words chorally and individually - Tell Ss that they are going to practise asking and answering questions about the jobs of his/her family members.

-T models with the first picture:

T: What’s your favourite food?

P: It’sbeef.

- Repeat the same procedure with the second picture.

- Calls a few pairs to act out in front of the class, check as a class and correct pronunciation, if necessary.

Ask your partners about their favourite food and drink.

- Tell Ss that they are going to practise.

- Ask them to work in pairs: one St asks the question and the other gives the answer.

- Select some pair to role – play in front of the class.

- Call two groups to the front of the class. They should take turns to write the name of a food or drink on the board. The group that runs out of ideas, or puts a food or drink under the wrong category is out of the game. Then another group comes out and continues. The group which stays until the end of the game is the winner.
