There are two kinds of sign language. One kind has a sign for every letter in the alphabet.

The person spells every word. That is finger spelling. The other kind has a sign for every word. There are about 5,000 of these signs. They are signs for verbs, things and ideas.

Some of these signs are very easy, for example, eat, milk and house. You can see what they mean. Others are more difficult, for example, star, egg, or week.

central Nha Trang. It is a popular destination for tourists who are interested in how baked-clay stoves are made and they can even try making them if they want to.

The process of making these stoves is simple. First, clay is mixed and filled with water. The dough is then separated into different parts, each of which is roughly enough to make a stove. The outer layer of the stove is usually covered with galvanized zinc sheets so that clay won’t stick to the mould. The newly shaped stoves will be dried in the sunlight for 24- 48 hours before being placed in the oven for baking. Today usually an oven is capable of making from 500 to 1,500 stoves at a time. Finally, after the stoves have cooled down, artisans bring them out to the market.

Although the demand for clay stoves is decreasing nowadays, due to the popularity of electric and gas stoves, the craft is still preserved, and the making of baked-clay stoves remains the daily job of many middle-aged local residents in the village.
