UNIT 3: A TRIP TO THE COUNTRYSIDE Lesson 3

Listen

A. Objectives:

1. Aims:

- Listen for details.

- By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to listen for details.

2. Practice skill:

- Practice the comprehension listening skill.

3. The knowledge needs to get:

+ Standard knowledge: Listen for details + Advanced knowledge:

4. Basic language:

- Vocabulary: to pick up, gas station, fuel,westward, towards, to drop off, parking lot = car park, Route .

Tenses: past simple tense.

5. Attitude:

- Help ss to have good consciousness in order to practice listening for detalis, doing some exercises.

B. Teaching- aids:

Lesson plan, textbooks, pictures, poster.

C. Methods:

- Model-Talk-Practice, individual work, pair work

- Some techniques can be used: Prediction , Rub out and remember and Comprehention questions.

II. WARM UP (5 minutes) Jumbled Words :

- Divide the class into 2 teams.

- Ask students from each to go to the board and write down the correct words.

- The team which is faster with more correct words wins the game.

- Get the students to listen to the tape and check their predictions.

- Match the places on the bus route with the letter on the map.

- Give feedback.

- By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to read the text for details and summary.

2. Practice skill:

- Practice the comprehension reading skill.

3. The knowledge needs to get:

+ Standard knowledge: Read the text for details and complete the summary.

+ Advanced knowledge: Recall the text.

4. Basic language:

- Vocabulary: exchange , exchange students:, (to) work part time, grocery, maize :=corn , plow = plough, tenses.

5. Attitude:

- Help ss to have good consciousness in order to practice reading for detalis, doing some exercises.

Step 1. Pre Reading :

- Set the scene: You are going to read a text about Van, an exchange students. He is from HCM City. He is now studying in the USA. He is living with the Parke family on a farm outside Columbus, Ohio.

- Have students tell the class what they know about life in the country, on the farm - what do people do?

How do they relax?

Step2. While Reading :

* Comprehension questions :

- Ask students to read the text to answer the questions .

Answer Key :

1. He will stay there till beginning of October . 2. Mr Paker is a farmer and Mrs Paker works part- time at a grocery store?
