New academic and theoretical contributions
The thesis has studied, systemized and provided additional fundamental theories of credit risk management, credit risk management in the context of global competition and integration, advanced credit risk management models, innovative application of Basel II principles for credit risk management… It also has capitalized on international experiences of a number of countries sharing similar level of development or economic background to Vietnam to advise the Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade with lessons learned in credit risk management.
New recommendations drawn from research conclusions
+ Fundamental theories of credit risk management, i.e. contents and models of credit risk measurement and credit risk management, including Basel II credit risk management model have been applied in analyzing and producing a situational analysis of credit risk management at the Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade. The adoption of such approach has enabled the researcher to pinpoint the bank’s extent of success in credit risk management and produce trustworthy observations of the current situation. The situational analysis, therefore, proves superior to other published research papers on the same topic.
+ New solutions and advanced recommendations, e.g. refinement of its credit risk management model, application of IT in credit risk management, development of an early warning system, formulation of a credit risk measurement model… have been

put forward to strengthen credit risk management at the Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade until 2030.
In addition, the thesis provides recommendations to state management authorities when it comes to strengthening credit risk management at the Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade.
