Unit 9: At home and away Lesson 3: B2

A. Objectives:

1. Aims:

- Tell about their neighbors, use interrogative questions with "Did".

- By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to use the past simple tense with negative and interrogative form and short answers to talk about past activities.

2. Practice skill:

- Practice the comprehension reading skill, writing and speaking skill.

3. The knowledge needs to get:

+ Standard knowledge: Answer the questions in B1; Write answers for B2. Write 3 other questions and answers.

+ Advanced knowledge: Ask and answer with friends "Did you...?"

4. Basic language:

- Vocabulary: hairdresser, material, clever, dressmaker.

- Structure: Did you buy it? - No, I didn't. Mrs Mai bought it.

5. Attitude:

- Help ss to have good consciousness in order to practice reading for details, doing some exercises and use the questions with "Did..."

B. Teaching- aids:

Lesson plan, textbooks, pictures, poster.

C. Methods:

- Model-Talk-Practice, individual work, pair work

- Some techniques can be used: Pelmanism, Presentation Dialogue, Question - answer, Guessing game.

- Ss read the dialogue again and fill in the Grids.

- Give feedback and correct.

- Read a text about hobbies and answer questions; describe a process and further practice past simple tense.

- By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to read about Hoa’s sewing work and further practice in Wh questions to talk about past activities.

2. Practice skill:

- Practice the comprehension reading skill, writing and speaking skill.

3. The knowledge needs to get:

+ Standard knowledge: Read and answer the questions, adverbs of frequency, change the verbs into past tense.

+ Advanced knowledge: Retell the process Hoa learned to sew (B4).

4. Basic language:

- Vocabulary: to sew, useful, hobby, decide, sewing machine, cushion, to fit, to try on.

- Give feedback.

- Teacher writes Ss’ ideas on the board.

Activity 2: While - reading (A1.P99) (15’) 1. Checking the prediction

- Ss read the letter and check their prediction.

- Give feedback and correct.

2. Answer given

- Teacher sticks the poster with 5 statements on it.

- Tell Ss they are 5 answers for 5 questions. Ask Ss to make questions for these answers base on the letter from Hoa’s Mom.

- Ss work in pairs to make questions.

- Give feedback: Divide the class into 2 groups . Ss from each group in turns go to the board and write the questions . The group will more correct questions win the game.

Activity 3: Post – reading ( 10’) Question - Answer

- Ss ask and answer about Hoa’s Mom letter, using the answer given and questions from a to e on p.100.
