UNIT FOUR: OUR PAST

I.Objectives:After finishing the lesson, Ss will be able to:

- talk about the past events - express feelings

- distinguish betwwen facts and opinions - write a short imaginary story

*Main grammar points:

LESSON 1: GETTING STARTED - LISTEN AND READ

A. Objectives

*Knowledge: By the end of this lesson , Ss will be able to to talk about past habits, using

“ used to” by reading a text about the past .And using vocabulary: look after, equipment, great- grandma, folktale.

* Attitude: Help Ss to be more confident to communicate with others in learning English and help them to respect what is in the past.

* Skill: Practise reading and listening skill.

B. Teaching aids

T's preparation: Lesson plan, text book, tape and cassette , pictures Ss' preparation: Text book, notebook, pen, homework.

+Ss listen and look at picture that hang on the board and work in group

Today we will learn about life in Vietnam 100 years ago, during the lasson, we’ll know what our great-grandma used to do, how their like was. Firstly, we work in group, look at the picture and make the list of thing that do not belong to the past in Vietnam 100 years ago.

Step 1 - Presentation.(13m)

T introduces vocab using some techniques:

Ss listen and repeat.

T checks stresses.

Ss copy down the words.

Check vocab by " Slap the board"

- St look at the picture p38(below)and answer qs: (Who are they?/ what are they doing? Is Nga’s grand mom old?/).

- Then T asks Ss work in pairs to guess and answer pre- Qs.

- Sts listen to the dialogue

- Sts work in pairs to read the dialogue.

- Sts find out the answers of the pre- questions.

T asks Ss to find out the model sentences in the text.

Ss repeat the model sentences.

* Concept check.

T: Does Nga's grandmother live on the farm now?

Ss: No.

T: When did she live on the farm?

Ss: When she was young.

T: Does she have to look after her younger sister and brother now?

Ss: No

T: When did she do these work?

Ss: In the past, when she was young.

T asks Ss to give the form, usage and meaning.

Step 2. Practice (15m) Act 1.Repeatation

- Sts use the model sentence to practice:
