Unit 6 letter Ss Lesson 1

I. Objectives:

1. Knowledge: After the lesson, Ss will be able to recognize and pronounce the letter S and its sound correctly, understand, recognize and say the three S words.

Write the letter S

2. Skills: listening, speaking, writing

3. Attitude: Ss like English, Ss will be more confident about yourself II. Teaching aids:

T: Pictures, books, flash card SS: Ss’ book, activity book III. Method: MAT, TPA.

IV. Procedure:

1.Organization: (1’) - Greeting

- Check absent students

1. Warm up (3’) Matching

T puts 4 pictures on the board and asks Ss go to the board match the picture with the similar meaning

T comments and has Ss repeat all words

2. New lesson

Teacher’ and students Activities contents Activity 1: Presentation & Practice (10mins)

- T writes on board the letter S to introduce to the students the new lesson.

- Instruct students how to pronounce the letter name and the letter sound

- T has Ss repeat several times and check students’ pronunciation

- Ss: listen and repeat

- T uses the phonics cards with sun, star, snake read the words out loud and has students repeat.

- Ss: listen and repeat

- T uses gestures to help students to understand the meanings of the three words.

- Stick the cards on board and have students

repeat the words chorally several times (in the correct order and then in any order).

- Ss: read in chorus

- Call some students to say the words out loud and correct their mistakes (if any)

- Ask the students to open their books and colour in the letters

Activity 3:( (10 mins)

- T has Ss look at the book and listen to the sentences “ This is a sun/star/snake

- Ss: look and listen

- T has Ss listen and repeat the words for several times.

- Ss: listen and repeat - T asks Ss: Is it a sun?

- Ss: answer yes/no

- T has Ss to point to the corresponding item in the picture.

- Ss: +listen and point then repeat with the rest of the items in random order.

- T gives Ss 3 minutes to choose the picture - Go around the classroom asking students to

name the item they’re circling Activity 4: (10mins)

- Use the phonics cards on the board and have students sing the chant with sun. Do the same with star and snake.

- Do the chant again using gestures for each word.

- Give feedback

III.Production (5mins)

Activity : Letter Writing Race Game - Ask the students to open their notebooks.

- Give the students 2 minutes to write as many Ss’s as they can.

- The winner is the student who has written the most.

I. Objectives:

1. Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to read and say the three S words correctly recognize and say a new S word correctly

2. Skills: listening, speaking, 3. Attitude: Ss like study English II. Teaching aids:

T: Pictures, books, flash card SS: Ss’ book, activity book III. Method: MAT, TPA.

IV. Procedure:

1.Organization: (1’) - Greeting

- Show the phonics cards, ask students to do corresponding actions then say the sound of the letter and words.

3. New lesson

- T plays the CD. Have the students listen to the story once.

- Play the CD again. The students listen and point to the pictures of the key words when they hear them in the story

- T reads the printed words then let Ss look at

Activity 2: (5 mins)

- T point to and says the sight words: look, a, in, and then has Ss repeat

- T has some students read them aloud.

Activity 3 (10 mins)

- T asks Ss open the book p.72 look unit 6 then asks them read the song

- Ss: read in chorus

- T follows the same procedure and presents the rest of the song.

- T plays the CD.

- Ss: listen and sing along.

- T plays the CD again. The students sing and do corresponding actions.

- Give feedback
