Unit 12: Let’s eat

Lesson 1: A

1-2 A.Objectives:

1. Aims:

- Understand the text about Hoa and her aunt, responses with "too, either, so, neither"

- By the end of the lesson, students will be able to understand the details of a text and practice food vocabulary and So do I / I do, too/ Neither do I / I don’t, either..

2. Practice skill:

- practice the comprehension reading skill,writing and speaking skill.

3. The knowledge needs to get:

+ Standard knowledge: Understand the text and complete Hoa and her aunt's shopping list, practice food vocabulary and So do I / I do, too/ Neither do I / I don’t, either..

+ Advanced knowledge: In the role of Hoa and her aunt, practice the dialogue.

4. Basic language:

- Vocabulary: spinach, cucumber, durian, papaya, (to) hate, (to) smell - structure: So do I / I do, too/ Neither do I / I don’t, either..

5. Attitude:

- Help ss to have good consciousness in order to practice reading for detalis, doing some exercises.

B. Teaching- aids:

III. New lesson (35’):

Activity 1: Presentation( 12’) 1. Vocabulary:

- T says: Yesterday, Hoa and her aunt went to the market and asks Ss to guess what they bought.

- Ss read the dialogue and answer the question.

3. Model sentences:

- T elicits the target language from Ss:

+ Did Hoa like spinach and cucumber ? How does Hoa say?

+ What is Hoa’s aunt answer?

+ Does Hoa like pork ? How does Hoa say ? + What is Hoa’s aunt answer?

- T models, Ss’repetition : chorus - individual.

- T writes the model sentences on the board.

Activity 2: Practice( 15’) Picture drill.

- T uses the pictures and sticks them on the board

- T runs through the words.

- Dealing with the questions and the answers.

- T models the first picture, Ss’ repetition:

1. Aims:

- Describe how to make a meal and write the menu.

- By the end of the lesson, students will be able to understand a text about how to make a meal and talk about the food and drink they ate and drank yesterday.

2. Practice skill:

- Practice the comprehension reading skill and writing skill.

3. The knowledge needs to get:

+ Standard knowledge: Know how to make a meal, write the menu and do exercises.

+ Advanced knowledge: Talk about their last own cooking.

4. Basic language:

- Vocabulary: bowl, dish, soy sauce, (to) slice, (to) stir fry, (to) add.

- Tense: the past simple tense.

5. Attitude:

- Help ss to have good consciousness in order to practice reading, writing and doing some exercises.

III. New lesson (35’):

Activity 1: Pre - reading ( 10’) 1. Vocabulary:

2. Ordering:

- T asks Ss some questions:

- Today you will read a text about what Hoa’s aunt have to do when she cook meal.

- You guess these statements ordering.

- Ss work in individual to guess the order of the statements.

Activity 2: While - reading( 15’) 1. Reading and checking:

- Ss read the text and check their prediction.

- T corrects.

Answer key : 1c, 2a, 3d, 4b, 5f, 6g, 7e.

2. Comprehension questions: A3 / p.116.

- Ss work in pairs of to ask and answer.

- T asks Ss to answer the questions in pairs and write the answers on the board.

- T corrects.

Activity 3: Post - reading: ( 10’)A4/

p.118 Survey

- Ask sts to copy down the table and ask their partner

- Write the answer for the questions.

* Ordering:

a. She sliced the beef.

b. Then, she cooked some rice and boiled some spinach.

c. Hoa’s aunt cooked dinner.

d. Next, she sliced some green peppers and onions.

e. And then she set the table and her family sat down to eat.

f. After that, she stir fried the beef and vegetables.

g. Finally, she slices the cucumbers and make cucumber salad.

- Listen for specific information to complete the story.

- By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to understand why Ba had to go to the doctor’s by listening.

2. Practice skill:

- Practice listening skill and writing skill.

3. The knowledge needs to get:

+ Standard knowledge: Listen for specific information to complete the story.

+ Advanced knowledge: Recall the text and discuss about the food and hygiene.

4. Basic language:

- The tense: past simple.

- Struture: make somebody feel better.

5. Attitude:

- Help ss to have good consciousness in order to practice listening.

B. Teaching- aids: Lesson plan, textbooks, pictures, tape.

C. Methods:

- Model-Talk-Practice, individual work, pair work.

- Some techniques can be used: Mime, T/ F Prediction, Comprehension questions, Gap – fill, Retelling the story.

Activity 2: While – listening ( 10’) 1. Checking prediction

- Teacher plays the tape for Ss to listen - Ss listen and check their predictions - Give feedback and correct.

1. Vocabulary

- dirt (n): bụi bẩn, bụi đất - dirty (adj): bẩn

- terrible (adj) = awful: khủng khiếp - probably (adv)( translation): có lẽ - carefully(adv)(translation): 1cách cẩn thận

2. Listening Poster

1) Ba had a headache.

2) He was at the doctors.

3) He ate spinach, but his parents didn’t.

4) His Mum washed the spinach.

5) Vegetables often have dirt on them.

Activity 3: Post - listening( 15’) Activity 1: Gap – fill

- Ss complete the story B1.

- Set the class in groups of 6. Each group has a secretary. Write their answers on the poster .

- Give feedback and correct.

- The groups go to the board and stick their posters on the board.

- Teacher corrects with Ss.

Activity 2: Retelling the story.

- Call on some Ss to retell the story based on T/ F prediction and the comprehension questions.
