(page 135) A. Aims of the lesson :

1. Knowledge: At the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to:

- By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to reading comprehension and couldn’t for past ability.

- Ss understand about Scuba-diving: Lặn với bình dưỡng khí.

- Learn vocabulary and understand details of the text about another kind of sports.

- Practice further with modal verb: Can, Could

*. Language focus:

a) New words: underwater, vessel, (to) explore, (to) invent, special breathing equipment.

- Surface - Scuba diving

b) Grammar: : Review the modal verbs . - Use the could – couldn’t to speak about ability in the past.

- Practice proficiency in reading comprehension skills.

- Reading the text to know who invented a deep-sea, diving vessel.

*. Kĩ năng sống cần giáo dục:

- Rèn luyện kĩ năng tư duy sáng tạo để thông qua những bức tranh cơ bản có thể đoán được nội dung của bài đọc nói về điều gì.

- Kĩ năng đối phó với những biến cố, căng thẳng khi trong bài đọc có nhiều từ khó phải biết tìm kiếm thông tin qua sự kết hợp với bạn bè hoặc thày cô giáo.

- Students become familiar with a new topic; activities in free time. At the same time, h / s familiarized the sentence structure to prefer something; and review the invitation /

suggestion, and then respond to the invitation or suggestion.

- Expression of preference choices.

- Talk about TV and TV programs.

*. Language focus:

a) New words: adventure , cricket , series, (to) guess,

b) Grammar: : : - Cấu trúc like/prefer + to – infinitive /gerund 2. Skills:

- Ask Ss to look at the picture and introduce: This is the picture of Hoa’s family. Look at it and guess what they do in their free time? do they watch TV?

- Introduce the situation: Watching TV is one of the most popular activities in free time. We are going to listen to a dialogue between Lan and Hoa. What do Lan’s / Hoa’s family do in their free time ? - Explain some new words to Ss .

- Have Ss read new words in chorus and individually.

- Have them play a game: what and where.

- Ask Ss to guess what Lan and Hoa usually do in the evening.

- Call on some Ss to give their predictions.

2. Practice : (15')

- Ask Ss to look at the books, listen to the tape and check their predictions.

- Call on some Ss to give the answers.

- Look at the picture and listen - Listen to the teacher.

- Listen and write down.

- Students with disabilities can listen and repeat the new words.
