4.1. Academic and theoretical contributions

The thesis offered a new perspective on view about improving the capacity of credit risk management, simultaneously, systematizing theoretical issues related to capacity of credit risk management in commercial banks. Not merely raising issues about credit risk or credit risk management, but also presenting the capacity of credit risk management and giving solutions for improving that capacity. This is a new highlight of the thesis compared to the research and the theses which have been studied previously.

The thesis showed the criteria used to assess the capacity of credit risk management in commercial banks as a prerequisite to suggest solutions which are practical, feasible and effective.

4.2. Findings, new proposals from the results of research and survey of the thesis The thesis has researched practically the capacity of credit risk management at Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development. From this review, evaluating the achievements and problems still exist, finding out reasons as the basis of solutions for improving the capacity of credit risk management in this bank.

The thesis proposed the orientation of improving the capacity of credit risk management at Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development in the future and recommended 7 solutions, three of them are worth noting:

- Improving the training activity and enhancing the quality of system-wide employees.

- Designing, implementing the credit risk quantification model.

- Completing and diversifying the risk treatment solutions through the application of credit derivative instruments.
