Trong cách sử dụng thì hiện tại đơn thường xuất hiện các trạng từ chỉ tần suất cơ bản như: always, usually, often, sometimes, rarely, everyday, once a month, in the morning, once in a blue moon…

- Với các từ có tận cùng là “o”, “ch”, “sh”, “x”, “s” "z" thì khi dùng với ngôi số ít, thêm đuôi

- Với các từ có tận cùng là “y” thì khi dùng với ngôi số ít, bỏ “y” và thêm đuôi “ies” (copy – copies; study – studies)
