SHORT STORY

CAT AND MOUSE 1 ( Part 2,3,4) I. OBJECTIVES

1. Knowledge: By the end of this lesson, Pupils will be able to:

- Understand the story Cat and Mouse 1

*Language focus:

- Sentence Pattern: Revision          - Vocabulary: Revision          2. Skills:

- Develop Ss reading, writing and speaking skill 3. Attitude:

- Help Ss to be more confident to communicate in English.

II. TEACHING AIDS

1. Teacher’s: Lesson plan, books, computer, projector ,speaker.

2. Students’: Books, notebooks.

III. METHOD

- Communicative approach.

- Techniques:

+ Game

+ Work individually, in pairs/ groups.

+ Discussion.      

IV. PROCEDURE 1. Organization:

 - Greetings: T – Ss greet each other.         

 - Checking attendance: Who’s absent today?         Ss: Answer        

2. Warm up: (5’)

- Ask ss to role play the story Cat and Mouse 1.

Teacher’s and Ss’ activities Contents Act 2. Complete the conversation

- Tell the class that they are going to read and complete a conversation - Give them a few second to read it and check their comprehension.

- Give them a time limit to do the task - Ask them to compare their answers before checking as a class

- Invite a few pairs to read the conversation aloud.

Act 3. Work in group of three. Read the conversation. Then act it out with your own name

- Tell ss that they are going to practice reading the conversation between Chit, Miu and Mary.

- Call on three ss practice reading before the class. Explain the new words if necessary.

- Ask ss to work in groups of three to practice the conversation.

- Go round to monitor and give comment if necessary.

Act 4. Unscramble these words from conversation

- Asking Ss to eork in 4 groups to disscuss the task in three minutes.

- Play game: Call the groups to go to the board and write the task on the board one by one. The group who finish finish first is the winner.

- Correc and congretulate the winner  

2. Complete the conversation:

- Ask and answer questions about where a school is.

- Vocabulary: street, road, village, district, cousin 2. Skills:

* Set the scene:      

- T uses the pictures of the dialogue on page 40(Student book 1) to lead Ss in the conversation

- Ask students to look at the 4 pictures in the book and check comprehension by eliciting the answers for these questions.

   T: What’s his name?( pointing to the student)         Ss:.

    T: What is it?(Point to the school)    

Ss: It’s a school  T: What’s it’s name?

- Play the recording all the way through

for Ss to listen and follow in their

books.

- Play the recording again for Ss repeat the dialogue several times.(

line by line in the bubbles).

- Point to the picture for Ss to read the dialogue  again

- Have Ss to find out the new structure.

- Point to the pictures in part 2 and elicit the New words.
