WEEK 10 Period 19 Date of preparing: 09/11/2018

Review 1 (Nn, Oo, Pp, Qq) – Lesson 1

I. Objectives:

- To consolidate the sound of the letters Nn, Oo, Pp and Qq and the corresponding words.

* Handicapped Ss: will be able to do the tasks with teacher’s help.

II. Language focus:

* Vocabulary: nut, net, nest, nose

olive, orange, octopus, omelette pen, panda, parrot, pony

question, queen, quilt, quiz

* Intergrate skills: Reading, Listening, Speaking, Writing.

III. Resources:

- i-Learn My Phonics Grade 2, Pupil’s book – p.19 IV. Materials : - Puppets, CD, Pictures, Phonics cards V. Organization:

1.Warm-up. (5’)

- Prepare some phonics cards from Units 1-4.

- Hand out the cards to various students.

- Teacher say out the sound, the students holding the cards with that sound come to give the cards to the teacher.

2. Presentation & Practice.

Act 1. Match and colour. Say the letter and the sound. (6’)

- Explain the activity.

- Ask the students to say the letters.

- The students match the upper case letters to the lower case ones.

- Say the letter and the sound.

- Go around the classroom to provide any necessary help, ask individual students to say out the letter and the sound.

Act 2. Look and tick. (8’) - Explain the activity.

- Ask the students to name the items.

- Ask them to tick the correct letter that corresponds to each picture.

- Go around the classroom to provide any necessary help, ask individual students to say out the sound or the item.

Act 3. Match the letters and the pictures (5’) - Explain the activity

- Ask the students to say the letters and name the items.

- The students match the upper case and lower case letters.

- The students match the pictures to the letters.

- Go around the classroom to provide any necessary help, ask individual students to say out the letter, the sound and the item.

Act 4. Listen and choose A or B (5’) - Explain the activity.

- Say the names of the items.

- Play the CD

- The students listen and circle the correct picture, A or B.

Answer key: 1- parrot 2 - queen 3 - olive 4 - net

* Activity: Run and Touch. (5’)

- Divide the class into two teams, A and B, make 2 lines.

- Put up the phonics cards (from part 3) on the board.

- Say the word. Two students, one from each team, race to touch the cards.

- The first student to touch the card wins a point for his/her team.

The team with more points wins the game.

- Ask the students to name the items, the letters and the sounds.

- Ask them to write the beginning letter that corresponds to each picture.

- Go around the classroom to provide any necessary help, ask individual students to say out the letter, the sound and the item.

Act 4. Colour. Use the key. (5’) - Explain the activity.

- Ask the students to name the items in the picture.

- The students use the code to colour each item that corresponds to the beginning sound.

- Go around the classroom to provide any necessary help, ask individual students to say out the letter, the sound and the item.
