Lesson 2 ( 4, 5, 6) I. Objectives:

1. Knowledge:

- By the end of this unit, Ps can:

* Ask and answer questions about someone’s hobbies, using What’s your hobby? I like + verb-ing + (noun).

2. Skills:

- Develop Ss speaking, listening skills.

3. Language focus:

- Sentence Partners: What’s your hobby? I like + verb-ing + (noun).

- Vocabulary: riding a bike, playing badminton, flying a kite, taking photos, watching TV.

II. Teaching aids:

1. Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, pictures, cassette.

2. Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks.

III. Teaching processes:

1. Class organization:

- Greeting.

- Checking for the students' attendance.

2. Oral test:

- Check pupils’ books, note books ……

Warm up: (5’)

*Spend a few minutes revising the previous lesson by playing a guessing game, following the procedure in Games in Introduction. Ask pupils to play the game in small groups. Ask pupils should take turns acting out their hobbies while the others guess what the hobbies are.

4. Listen and number: (9’)

* We are going to listen to four dialogues about hobbies and number the pictures.

*Ask pupils to look at the pictures and identify what the character are and what they like doing.

(In the picture a, Linda likes playing a kite. In the picture b, Mai and Tony likes singing. In the picture c, Nam likes playing badminton. In the picture d, Tony likes taking photographs.)

Play game.

Listen.

Look at the pictures and identify what the character in each picture can do

*Play the recording more than once and ask pupils listen and number the pictures.

*We are going to write the answers to the questions to about someone’s hobbies.

*Ask pupils to look at the question What do you like doing? In the first two pictures. Then find the answers by using the picture cues.

*Ask pupils to look at the question What’s your hobby? In the last two pictures. Then again find the answers by using the picture cues.

*Ask pupils to do the task independently.

*Ask pupils to swap their answers.

*Stick a large sheet of paper with nine hobbies

One pupil in Group A will mime one of the phrases on the board (e.g. playing football) and asks What’s my hobby? The other groups guess the hobby, put a tick next to playing football on the board and say You like playing football. The pupils of Group A will say Yes, that’s right. (or No, that’s wrong.) The quickest group to put a tick next to the correct phrase on the board and say the correct sentence will get five points. The group that gets the most points win.

*We are going to learn to practise saying the sounds of the letters fl and pl in the words flying and playing respectively.

* Put the sounds fl and pl on the board. Play the recording and ask pupils to repeat a few times.

Then put the words flying and playing and the sentences I like flying a kite, and He likes playing the piano on the board. Play the recording a few more times and ask pupils to say the words and the sentences, paying attention to the target sounds.

*Ask some pupils to do choral and individual repetition of the sounds, words and sentences.

* Ask some pupils to perform in front of the class.
