UNIT 9: HOUSES IN THE FUTURE

LESSON 1(1st): New words, Listening and Conversation skill (Page 70) Time: 45 minutes

I. THE AIMS OF THE LESSON.

1. Knowledge.

- By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

+ Compare homes now and in the future, discuss where the people should live +Listen to a student talking about his/ her house in the future

+ Showing you don’t understand +Use the future tense.

+Vocabulary: smart home, megacity, earthscraper, eco-friendly home, underground.

+Skill: Listening, speaking.

2. Ability:

- Students can practice listening, speakingcommunicative situations to talk about where the people should live.

- Students develop communicate, work in pairs / individual and team – working skills through learning activities.

3. Quality:

- Students have serious learning attitude; love learning English, energetically and actively participate in learning activities.

- Students' qualities are helped to develop such as:kindness,love natural, love for people, love, respect and protect yourself, have a sense of self-training, take responsibility for yourself and your family.

II. TEACHING EQUIPMENT AND LEARNING MATERIALS.

- Teacher prepares the lesson plan, textbooks, teaching aids such as personal computers, projectors, speakers…

- Students prepare textbooks, notebooks, studying tools, … ready for the lesson.

III. TEACHING PROCESS.

1. Activity 1: Warm up: (6 minutes) a) Objective:

- Help students review using:

+ Know houses in the past and in the future

+ Review some words about housesto identify, understand the situation of the new lesson.

b) Content:

- Guess which houses belong to the past, the present or in the future.

c) Products: Students know how to find out the correct pictures.

d) Organization of implementation:

-Lets Ss guess which houses belong to the past, the present or in the future.

-May have plus marks for students with correct answer.

2. Activity 2:New lesson.(12 minutes)

a) Objective: Help students read and know the meaning of the new words, understand the new words and disccuss them.

b) Content:Learn and use language materials simply. Work in individuals,work in pairs or work in groups. Then fill in the blanks and disscus.

c) Products: Students know how toread the new words individual, speak fluently and do exercies.

d) Organization of implementation:

3. Activity 3: Listening (16 minutes)

a) Objective: Help students use the knowledge they have learn to listen and check their guessing; listen and answer the question Yes or No.

b) Content: Listen to a student talking to their professor and answer Yes or No.

c) Products: Students know how to apply the useful language to the listening task in everyday communication and answer the question “Is the student excited about houses in the future?”

d) Organization of implementation:

*Set the scene: You listen to a student talking to their professor before listening, you guess the answer.

-Lets them guess the answer.

2.While – listening.

-Listen to the T.

4. Activity 4: Conversation skill (8minutes)

a) Objective:Help students use the knowledge they have learned to practice with their parners.

b) Content: Listen to the conversation again and show you don’t understand what you hear.

c) Products: Students know how to practice the conversation skill in front of the class.

d) Organization of implementation:

Teacher's activities Students' activities -Have Ss listen to the audio again and pay

attention to the sentences / phrases that the speakers use to show their don’t understand.

-Plays the audio

+ Use future simple and the verb “think” to give our ideas about the future.

+ Use identinite quantifiers (a few / some; many/ lots, a lot of) 2. Ability:

- Students can practice writing and speaking, improve the use of English.

- Students form and develop competencies: the ability to work in pairs / individual and team – working skills through learning activities.

3. Quality:

- Students have serious learning attitude; love learning English, energetically and actively participate in learning activities.

- Students' qualities are helped to develop such as: kindness,love natural, love for people, love, respect and protect yourself, have a sense of self-training, take responsibility for yourself and your family.

-Practice writing, listen and repeat.

c) Products: Students know the form and the usage of the future simple.

d) Organization of implementation:

? “people” is countable noun or uncountable noun

-Listens and corrects.

-> We use indefinite quantifiers before nouns to show the amount or quantify if we don’t know exactly how much there is or how many there are.

With countable nouns, we can use:

small quantities: a few/ some

large quantities: many / lots of/ a lot of

3. Activity 3: Practice (15 minutes)

a) Objective: Help students use the knowledge they have learn to write sentences.

b) Content: Write sentences in future simple using the promts and the survey notes.

c) Products: Students know how to use the future simple anf write sentences correctly.
