UNIT 10: RECYCLING A. Objectives:

1. Mục tiêu: Sau khi hoàn thành bài học, học sinh có thể:

-Đưa ra lời chỉ dẫn, hướng đẫn và cách đáp lại.

-Nói cảm nghĩ về một vấn đề.

-Viết lời chỉ dẫn cho một công viêc cụ thể.

2. Trọng tâm ngôn ngữ:

-Passive forms: ...

-Adjective followed by: - an infinitive - a noun clause 3. Từ vựng: Theo chủ điểm tái chế các đồ vật

-compost, natural resources, mixture, tray, mess, tyre, waste,…

-to decompose, to soak, to mix, to recycle, refill, reuse, melt, fertilize, … 4. Kĩ năng cần đạt:

- Nói hướng dẫn phân loại rác.

- Nghe lấy thông tin chính về cách làm phân xanh.

- Đọc hiểu về những đồ thải có thể tái chế.

- Viết lời hướng dẫn đơn giản theo từ, cụm từ gợi ý.

*Lưu ý:

Học sinh trung bình: - Hiểu và nói được loại rác nào có thể tái chế để sử dụng - Hiểu và sử dụng được các câu bị động.

B. Unit plan:

- Lesson 1: (Getting started + Listen and read ) Reading a dialogue for details about how to protect the environment and save natural resources.

- Lesson 2: (Speak + Listen) Practice in giving and responding to instructions.

Listening for specific information about making compost.

- Lesson 3: (Read ) Reading for details about how things are recycled.

- Lesson 4: (Write) Write a set of instructions on how to recycle used things.

- Lesson 5: (Language Focus 1,2) Passive form in Present simple and Future simple.

- Lesson 6: (Language Focus 3,4) Further practice in the Passive and in expressing the feeling using adjectives.

LESSON 1: GETTING STARTED

A. Objectives:

1. Knowledge: By the end of the lesson Sts will be able to listen and read a dialogue to know how we can save natural resources and protect the environment 2. Skills: concentrate on listening and speaking skills

3. Attitude: Learn hard and have good knowledges to protect the environment

* Brainstorming (Getting started) - Ask Ss to think of ways to reduce the amount of garbage they produce.

- Deliver posters to Ss, dividing them into 4 groups - Tell Ss to put the posters on the board after they finish and the team having the most good ideas is the winner.

( Use cloth bags , use tree leaves to wrap things, make garbage into fertilizer , make vegetable matter into animal food … )

III. New lesson(35’) Step 1: Pre - reading (13’)

- Today, we are going to read the dialogue about how to protect the environment and save natural resources.

Let's start with some new words.

1. Vocabulary:

- (traslation) - (= to keep so/ sth safe from danger.) -> protect sb / sth from sb / sth

- (coal mines, oil / gold / mineral deposits) - (to make sth already used able to be used again) - (to communicate with sb by telephone or letter)

* Checking technique: Jumbled words

- Stick 6 flashcards with jumbled words on the board - Ask Ss to rewrite the words in the right order . - Tell Ss the first two groups with right words will get

b. We can reuse things like envelopes, glass , plastic bottles and old plastic bags.

c. Recycle means not just throwing things away. Try and find another use for them.

d. We can look for information on recycling things by having a contact with an organization like Friends of the Earth, going to the local library or asking your family and friends.

e. We should not use plastic bags because when we throw them away, they could stay very long and could not be self- destroyed.

LESSON 2: SPEAK, LISTEN A. Objectives:

1. Knowledge:By the end of the lesson, students will be able to give and respond to instructions and listening for specific information about making compost.

2. Skills:

+ Listening: Listen to an expert about how to make compost.

+ Speaking: Give and respond to instructions

3. Attitude: Educate ss to learn hard, stay healthy, eat sensibly

* Kims game:

- Show the picture to the sts and ask them to observe it carefully, let them look at the picture for about 20 seconds then put it away.

- Divide the class into 2 teams and ask sts to go to the board and write as many words showing things in the picture as possible.

Step 1: Pre - speaking(12’)

- Today, we are going to giving and responding to instructions and listening about making compost. Let's start with some new words.

1. Vocabulary:

- (Farmer often use this thing to make their plants or trees grow well)

- (What do you call the fertilizer made from spoiled food, leaves, vegetable mater?)

- ( What are these clothes made of?) - (What are the shoes made of? )

* Kims game:

* Possible answers: Used paper, old newspapers, books, cardboard boxes, bottles, glasses, jars, plastic bags, food cans, drinking tins, vegetable matter, clothes, shoes, school bags …

* Checking technique: Bingo 2. Dictation list:

- Tell Ss they are going to listen to the words for items and put them into the right groups.

- Draw the table on the words and put them in the right columns.

- Model some words.

- Read the words aloud, slowly and jumble them up - After listening, ask Ss to work in pairs and give their answers.

- Read the words again and correct Step 2: While - speaking (13’)

* Mapped dialogue:

- Put the mapped dialogue chart on the board . - Elicit the exchanges from students

- Have some pairs practice each exchange before going on to another exchange .

- After fishing the dialogue , ask a good pair to demonstrate the whole dialogue.

a. Open pairs:

- Ask some pairs to practice in front of class.

b. Closed pairs:

- Ask Ss to work in pairs, replacing the information with the words in the dictation list

- Monitor and correct.

Step 3: Post - speaking (10’)

* Multiple choice:

- Tell Ss they are going to listen to an expert who gives the instructions to make compost.

- Ask Ss to open their books and read the multiple choice questions.

- Have them guess the answers.

- Turn on the tape 2 or 3 times, Ss listen and do the exercise.

- Get Ss to give their answers and correct.

- Have them copy.
