       Lesson 2: 4-5-6 I. AIMS.

read and complete the conversation.

I. Warm up:(5’)

- Spend a few minutes revising the previous lesson  by inviting some pairs  to act out the story in Activity 1 in front of the class.

II. New lesson:(25’)

4. Listen and circle a, b or c.

a. Pre-listening:

- T looks at the books and sets the scence:

       How may sentencess are there?

- Tell Ps that they are going to listen and circle a,b or c.

- Ask them to read the information and try to guess the word to fill each gap.

b. While-listening:

- Play the recording all the way through for Ps to listen and circle. Play it again for them to do the task.

- Get them to compare their answers before checking as a class.

- Play the recording again to confirm the answers.

- Give explanations for the answers which Ps find

- Call some students read the sentences.

- Ask Ps to look at  the words the box.

- T asks: How many sentences are there?(5) - Ask a student to read words in the pink box.

b. While- reading:

- Ask Ps to read and complete the conversation between Mai  and Tom.

- Have them read the words given and the conversation.

- Remind them to focus on the context to select  the appropriate words from the box.

- Get them to compare their answers in pairs before checking as a class. If there is enough time , have the class read the completed text aloud.

Labelling foods and drinks.

- Tell the class that they are going to play Labelling foods and drinks in the food pyramid and then tell the class about the healthy diet.

. Tell them that the aim of the game is to give the directions..

Explain how to play the game: Aks them to work in groups and discuss the names of the foods and drinks. Remind them to takes notes for their report to the class.

- Invite a pupil from each group to tell the class what a heathy diet is.

-

If there is not enough time, give the activity as homework. Have pupils talk about a healthy diet in the next class.

Key:

Eat most: rice, apple, bread, carrots, sweet corn, oranges, tomatoes, bananas, cabbage.

Eat some: fish, milk, chicken, eggs, chese, jam.

1. Knowledge: By the end of this lesson, Ps will be able  practice saying the sentences with the correct intonation.

2. Skills:  speaking, listening and reading II. LANGUAGE FOCUS:

- Sentence patterns: revision - Vocabulary: revision III. TEACHING AIDS:

1. Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, pictures, cassette.

2. Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks.

- Spend a few minutes revising the previous lesson by inviting some pairs of pupils to act out the conversation in lesson 2, activity 5.

 

Point each drawing and say the address.

II. New lesson:(25’) 1. Listen and repeat.

- Tell Ps that they are going to practise saying sentences with falling intonation. Explain that a negative command or a wh-question is pronounced with falling tone.

- Play the recording and ask Ps to repeat a few time.

Then put the sentences on the board, play the recording and ask Ps to repeat a few more times.   Play the recording a few more times and let Ps say the sentences , paying attention to sentences with falling intonation.

- Do choral and individual repetition of the  sentences stress until Ps feel confident.

- Get some Ps to perform in front of the class. Check

2. Listen and cicle a or b. Then say the sentences aloud (10’)

a. Pre-listening:

- T looks at the books and sets the scence:

       How many sentences are there?

- Tell Ps that they are going to listen and circle a or b to complete the sentences.

- Ask them to read the four  sentences and guess the word to complete them.

b. While-listening:

- Play the recording all the way through for Ps to listen. Play it again for them to do the task.

- Get them to compare their answers before checking as a class. Play the recording again to confirm the answers.

- Aks the class to read the completed sentences aloud - Give explanations for the answers which Ps find difficult

4. Read and do the tasks.

a. Pre-reading:        

- Tell Ps that they are going to read the passage and label the places on the map.

- Get Ps time to read the text and check their comprehension. Give meanings of common, accidents, sofa and tips

- Explain the unfamiliar words, if necessary.

b. While-reading:

- Set a time limit for them to do the task independently. Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary.

- Get them to compare their answers before checking as a class.

5.Write about your eating habits.

a.  Pre- writting

- Ask Ps to read the sentences .

- Tell the class that they are going to write the direction, using the map.

b. While-writing.

- Have Ps work in pair or group to discuss what they are going to write.

- Give them time to read and do task.

- Set a time limit for Ps to do the writing individually.

Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary.

- Get them to read their writing in pairs before inviting two or three Ps to read their answers aloud.

6. Project

- Tell the class that they are going to draw a simple map about to show the way to their home from their school.

- Have them work in groups. They should decide which direction to select and discuss how to a draw them. - Set a time limit for them to do the task.

- Ask them to work in groups and decide whose home they will use to draw the map. They should write notes to give directions from the home to their school.

 - If there is not enough time, give the activity as homework. Have  Ps show their result in the next class.

7. Colour the stars

- Have the class read the statements and check their comprehension.

- Give them time to colour the stars and invite a few Ps to read the statements aloud.

- Give further support to Ps who find it difficult to achieve certain objectives.
