LESSON 4: WRITE

A. Objectives

* Knowledge:By the end of this lesson, Ss will be able to practise writing a paragraph about other people.

* Attitute: Help Ss to be more confident to communicate with others, love themselves and their friends

* Skill: Practice writing skill.

B. Teaching aids

T's preparation: Lesson plan, text book, cards.

Ss' preparation: Students’ book , workbook, homework C. Methods

- Practice ( prehension question, write it up, correction...) - pairs, individual and group works

II - Warm up (4m)*Chatting:

Sts look at the picture on page 17 carefully, then ask & answer these three questions.

a. How many people are there in the picture? ( There are four) b. What does each person look like?

III. New lesson.

Step 1- Pre – writing (15m)

a. Reading comprehension questions.

T sets the scence about Tam and asks Ss to read the information about him( Text book) - Sts read the information about Tam and the paragraph about him then answer the comprehension questions.

b. Fill in the form:

- Sts work in pairs to answer the questions about their close friend and take notes of the answers.

Step 2 - While - writing : (15m)

Read the information about Tam.

a, What is his name?( Le Van Tam ) b, How old is he? ( 14 )

c, What does he look like?( tall, thin, short black hair)

d, What is he like?( Sociable, humorous, helpful)

e, Where does he live?( 26 Tran Phu Street, HN)

f, Who does he live with?( mother, father, elder brother – Hung)

g, Who are his friends?( Ba and Bao) Fill in a similar form for your partner.

( According to students).

Write a paragraph about your partner.

Activity 1: Write it up

- Sts write a paragraph about their close friend, using the information they have just got.

- T goes round and control the class while Sts are writing.

Step 3 - Post – writing (8m)

* Some sts tell about their close friends before the class.

* Teacher writes the typical mistakes on the board and elicits the correction from Sts.

- Sts swap their writing and correct mistakes for each other if necessary.

- Sts work in groups.

- T correct mistake and give right answer.

* Activity 2(10m)

- Review simple present tense: formation, usage.

- Focus on one of the usage of Simple Present tense. It is used to express an action which is always true.

- Ask Sts work in pair to complete the dialogue between Ba and Tuan.

- Sts work in pairs.

a. Hoa lived in Hue last year, but now she lives in Ha Noi. Yesterday, Hoa’s friends Nien sent Hoa a letter. Nien was Hoa’s neighbor when Hoa lived in Hue. She is younger than Hoa.

She comes to Ha Noi in December.

b. Lan is Hoa’s best friend. The two girls are in the same class at Quang Trung school. Last year, Hoa came to the school for the first time.

Lan showed her around and introduced to many new friends.

Lan: Don’t be silly! Ba is not old enough to drive a car.

Lan: No, thanks. I’m strong enough to lift the box.

d. Hoa: Why don’t you join our English Speaking Club?

Lan: I don’t think my English is good enough to be a member.
