Lesson 3
I. OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, Ps will be able to:
- Read and say the three Vv words correctly.
- Recognize and say an extra Vv word correctly.

IV. PROCEDURE:
1. Organization (1’):
- Greet Ps.
- Check Ps’ attendance

2. Warm up (4’): Act It Out
- Choose a student to come to the front of the classroom.
- Show him/her a phonics card (van, vase, violet, umbrella) and ask the student to act it out.
- The remaining students try to guess the correct answer.
- The first student to have the correct answer comes to the front of the class and the activity continues.
3. New lesson (27’)
Teacher and Students’ activities Content Activity 1 (7’):
- Get Ps to open their books on page 45.
- Ask the students to take out their colour pencils/
crayons.
- Point to the letters and elicit the letters and the sounds for each.
6. Colour the Vv letters
- Ask the students to colour the pictures, use any colour they like.
- Go around the classroom providing any necessary help.
Extension: Which One Is Missing? Game (5 ’ ) - Put the phonics cards (van, vase, violet, tree, up)
on the board.
- Give the students 10 seconds to look at the cards.
- Have students close their eyes and then you take away one cards.
- Tell the students to open their eyes and name the missing cards
Activity 2 (8’):
- Show the students the violin phonics card. Point to it and say: /v/ - violin. Ask them to repeat.
- Mime playing the violin and say: /v/ - violin.
Encourage the students to do the same
- Say the letter. The students perform the action and say the letter and the word.
- Play the CD. The students listen, point to and repeat the word.
- Point to the picture and have students name them.
- Allow the students some time to colour in the pictures of words start with the /v/ sound.
- Go around the classroom providing any necessary help.
Extension: Craftwork (7’)
- Ask the students to take out their notebooks.
- Ask them to choose one word the draw the letter and the picture in their notebooks.
- Tell them to colour the letter and the picture.
- The first three students who finish will show their pictures to the class.
Activity 3 (5’):
- Write on the board the big V and small v.
- Have pupils to say the name of the letter and its sound chorally, then individually, correct the pronunciation if necessary.
- Demonstrate how to write the big V and the lower letter v.
7. Listen, point and repeat. Colour the pictures of the words that start with the v sound. Say the u words.

3.Trace and say.

- Have students trace letter V and v in the books.
- Go around and help if necessary. Ask the students to say the sound of the letter.
Activity 4 (10’):
- Explain the activity.
- First, the students trace the letters in the boxes - Then draw lines from the letters to the
corresponding pictures.
- Go around and give help as needed.
*Answer keys: 1 Tt- tea 2 Uu- up 3 Vv- violin Extension: get Ps to play the Chinese whisper game, using the sentence:
This is my pretty van.
This is my pretty vase.
This is my pretty violet and pretty vase.
Activity 5 (6’):
- Explain the activity.
- Ask the students to find and colourall the letter Vv.
- Ask them to use any colour they like.
- Ask them to name the item in the picture.
- Tell them they can colour other letters with a different colour.
Activity 6 (5’):
- Explain the activity.
- Ask the students to circle all the upper case Vs to help the violin go to the van.
- Check the students’ answers by holding up the book and ask the students for the right way.
+Teacher: (point to a lower case v) Is this way right? Yes or No?
+ Class: No! etc
- Go around the classroom and provide any necessary help.

6. Help the violin go to the van. Follow the V
4. Consolidation (3’):
- Get Ps to say the letter and the pictures again.
- Summarize the lesson.
5. Homework: Ask pupils to practice the letter Vv and the sound at home.

Lesson 1
1. OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, Ps will be able to:
- Recognize and pronounce the letter Ww and its sound correctly.
- Understand, recognize and say the three Ww words.
- Write the letter Ww.

III. METHODS: P.P.P, games, chant IV. PROCEDURE:
1. Organization (1’):
- Greet Ps.
- Check Ps’ attendance.

2. Warm up (4’): Unscramble the words
- Draw pictures of van, vase, violet, violin on the board.
- Write the names of the 4 pictures with jumbled letter.
- Ask a student to come to the board, unscramble one of the words and write it.
- Ask the class for verification.
- Repeat the activity with some more Ps as necessary.
3. New lesson (26’):

- Show the Ps the well phonic card. Point to it and say: /w. The Ps repeat.
- Then say /w/- well. The Ps repeat.
- Put the phonics card on the board. Mime pulling a bucket out of a well and say: /w/- well. Encourage the Ps to do the same.

- Follow the same procedure: /w/- watch, /w/- window.
- Write the letter Ww on the board next to the phonics cards. Point to it and say: “This is the letter /ˈdʌbəljuː/. The letter /ˈdʌbəljuː/ makes the /w/
sound. The Ps repeat /ˈdʌbəljuː/- /w/.
Check the vocabulary:
- Ask a pupil to come to the board
- Whisper one of the vocabulary words to the pupil and ask him/her to do the corresponding action.
- The first pupil to guess the word correctly wins the game and will be the next to go the board.
Pupil’s book open:
- Ask Ps to look at part 1 on page 47.
- Play the CD. The Ps listen, point and repeat.
- The Ps color the letters Ww.
- Go around the class and help if necessary.
Activity 2 (9’):
- Point to the well and say: Where is the well? The Ps repeat.
- Follow the same procedure for watch and window.
- Play the CD. The Ps listen and point.
- Say: Where is the watch? Ask Ps to point to the corresponding item in the picture. Repeat with the rest of the items in random order.
- Ask Ps to color the well, watch and window.
- Go around the classroom and check Activity 3 (5’):
- Play the CD. The Ps listen, follow in their books and chant.
- Ask the Ps to do the actions of the words when they chant.
- Divide the class into 3 groups. Each group says the appropriate chant while the rest of the class claps.

4. Consolidation (4’): Memory Game
- Put up the phonics cards on the board and ask the Ps to memorize the order in which the items appear.
- Ask the Ps to close their eyes and remove the cards.
- Ask individual Ps to name the items in the correct order.
- Change the order of the phonics cards and repeat the activity.
5. Homework: Ask pupils to practice the letter Ww and the sound at home.
