Lesson 3: Part 1-2-3

I. Objectives: By the end of this lesson, students will be able to pronounce correctly the sounds of the letters ‘t’ as in the word Tony and the letter ‘p’ in the word Peter respectively.

1. Knowledge:

- Sentence Partners: Review.

- Vocabulary: Review.

2. Skills: Developing listening/ speaking/ reading/ writing skill(s).

3. Core competencies & Personal qualities:

- Self-study ability, use language to read and write to pronounce correctly the sounds of the letters.

- Learn hard, confident in learning and practice situations.

II. Teaching aids:

1. Teacher’s aids: TV, computer, book, flash card.

2. Students’ aids: Student’s book, notebooks, workbooks.

III. Procedures

* Activity: Bean bag Circle

- T devides Ss ino 2 groups (group of 10).

- T explains how to play this game.

- Ss ask and answer about someone.

- T lets Ss play togtether.

- T monitors.

2. Presentation (20’)

*Activity 1: Listen and repeat (10’) - T introduces sound: /t /

- T asks Ss to listen to the CD.

- Ss repeat chorally – individually.

- T introduces word: Tony.

- T asks Ss to listen to the CD.

- T asks Ss to find the words have sound /t / - Ss answer.

- T aks Ss to read aloud the words that they have just found.

- T asks Ss to listen to the CD.

- Ss repeat chorally – individually.

- T asks Ss to tell what is the first sound that they have just learnt.

- Ss answer.

Further practice: Jumping line - T devides Ss into 2 teams.

- T lets 2 teams play together.

*Activity 2: Listen and write (10’) - T asks Ss to open their books.

- Ask Ss to run through the sentences.

- T asks Ss to tell the task.

- Ss listen and write.

- T plays the CD for Ss to listen 1st time.

- T plays the CD again for Ss to listen and write the correct answer.

- Asks Ss to exchange their answer with partners before reporting them to the class.

- T asks Ss to read out the answer.

- T plays the CD again for Ss to check their answer.

Further practice: Who is faster - T gives each group 4 cards:

- T devides Ss into 2 teams (4 Ss in each group) - T explains how to play this game.
