An In/Del in the coding region of the gene that is not a multiple of 3 nucleotides leads to a frameshift mutation. In the United States, organic and other poultry production mostly use the same fast-growing broiler genotype as in conventional production systems (Fanatico et al., 2005).

Statistical analyses

The right sides of breast meat were individually wrapped in tin foil and placed in a -24°C freezer prior to sensory evaluation. The left side of breast meat was evaluated for color, pH, drip loss and chemical analysis.

RESULTS AND DISCUSSION

In their experiment with slow-growing chickens, the percentage of breast meat was lower, but the percentage of leg meat was higher compared to fast-growing broilers. The breast meat of SA51 was tougher (P<0.01) after 49 days, but after 90 days there was no significant difference in the texture of the breast meat between SA31 and SA51.

CONCLUSIONS

The quality of meat was comparable or even higher compared to fast growing chickens. Effect of organic production system on the performance and meat quality of two purebred slow-growing chicken breeds.

POLYMORPHISMS OF CANDIDATE GENES RELATED TO GROWTH RATE AND MEAT QUALITY IN VIETNAMESE

NATIVE FATTY PIG BREED “I”

INTRODUCTION

In order to prevent the extinction of indigenous pig breeds and genetic erosion, the preservation of the I breed of pigs is an urgent need. Polymorphisms of favorable candidate genes, including PIT1, H-FABP, CAST, PIK3C3, MYOG and GHRH, were detected in many pig breeds and confirmed the association with economic traits.

MATERIAL AND METHODS

The objective of this study was to investigate the single nucleotide polymorphisms present in the PIT1, H-FABP, CAST, PIK3C3, MYOG and GHRH genes in pigs I. Apart from the BB genotype of MYOG and GHRH which is not present in the studied population (Table 2 ), however the genotypic frequencies of these genes were found in HWE (P>0.424).

MOLECULAR ANALYSIS USING MITOCHONDRIAL DNA TO INFER THE FORMATION PROCESS OF KAZAKH KUSHUM

HORSE POPULATIONS

MATERIALS AND METHODS

The obtained sequence data were aligned using ClustalW in MEGA 7.1 (Kumar et al., 2016) and a dataset of 97 haplotypes of the D-loop region, including 10 Kushum horse haplotypes and 87 haplotypes reported by Cieslak et al. Following the nucleotide sequences of the D-loop regions of 1754 modern horses and 207 ancestral horses, Cieslak et al. 2010) classified the 87 observed horse mtDNA haplotypes (sequences) into 17 major haplogroups. These mtDNA haplotype findings indicate high genetic diversity and unique genetic makeup of the maternal lineage.

Therefore, the high diversity of mtDNA haplotypes in Kushum horses likely reflects the high genetic diversity of the maternal ancestry of the local horse population in Central Asia.

The dose of Mis Pro is maintained weekly by spraying uniformly over the litter surface. The dose of Manure Pro product is maintained weekly by spraying uniformly over the manure surface. The composition and quality of the Mis Pro product was given by the manufacturer of the Lallemand Company Limited, Canada (Table 1).

Our study found a positive impact on the presence of ammonia and hydrogen sulfide levels in the environment by adding Manure Pro to organic manure.

In general, the addition of the premix to the feed did not affect the body weight of the experimental hens. Similarly, egg mass of crossbred Noi hens was not statistically significant among treatments at several weeks of age. These above results showed that the addition of premix did not affect the laying and egg weight of Noi crossbred hens.

There was no statistically significant difference in egg mass of Noi cross chickens among treatments (P>0.05).

The use of exogenous proteases can help cattle improve protein digestibility in feed (Lemme et al., 2004; Cowieson and Ravindran, 2008). The results of the research of Freitas et al. 2011) showed that the addition of protease to the diet improved the digestibility of proteins and lipids in chickens. The carcass results in this experiment are consistent with Fang et al. 2019) that the addition of 300 mg protease/kg feed to chicken diet did not affect chicken carcass performance.

According to the color classification of Qiao et al. 2001), Ben Tre Noi chicks in this experiment had bright colors.

Management and measurements: The growth and meat quality parameters of chickens were analyzed according to the methods of Bui Huu Doan et al. The experiment consisted of 50 post-weaning rabbits (including 25 males and 25 females) for the growth experiment and 20 breeding females in the first and second litters for the reproduction experiment. We used Ipomoea aquatica, soybean meal extraction, soybean waste and ascorbic acid and Pennisetum purpureum in the experiment. Soybean extract meal was purchased from a local feed store during the experiment, while soybean waste was taken daily from a tofu store.

RBC: The number of red blood cells present in a unit of blood; HGB: Hemoglobin levels in the blood; HCT: Red Blood Cell Volume Ratio;. However, C1000 supplementation did not have a positive effect on reducing platelet count and was not significant in the results of weight gain in rabbits. This may explain that the increase in red blood cell count in the control treatment may be due to the effects of heat stress-induced dehydration.

The protein of rabbits in the treatment supplemented with vitamin C tended to be higher than that of the control.

EFFECTS OF SPICE HERBS ON THE GROWTH PERFORMANCE OF NOI CHICKENS

Traditionally, pharmaceutical products, such as antimicrobials, have been used in poultry production as certain drugs and feed additives for rapid growth and health (Mund et al., 2017). They are classified based on medicinal properties, essential oil extracts and bioactive compounds (Abdelli et al., 2021). In agreement, Sadeghi et al. 2012) claimed that the feed intake of Ross 308 broiler chickens was not affected by the addition of an infusion (5 g per liter) of cinnamon, thyme and turmeric in equal proportions in replacement of drinking water.

Other studies have also shown that herbs can stimulate the growth of intestinal cells, increase the contact surface of the intestinal mucosa, especially the duodenum, which in turn regulates the secretion of digestive enzymes and balances the intestinal microflora, thus supporting the growth of chickens (Bongiorno et al., 2008; Alizada and Hemmaty, 2020).

The effect of oestrus methods on oestrus efficiency of goats

The time of onset of estrus and duration of estrus are crucial in synchronizing estrus. In this study, we evaluated the effect of estrus methods on the time of onset of estrus and duration of estrus in goats. The total time of estrus in both methods was consistent with that reported by Greyling (2000) but different from Motlomelo et al.

The time of onset of estrus in this study was earlier than that of Motlomelo et al.

Comparing Vietnam's food consumption with the world, one can see the potential for product production and consumption. Fishmeal feed ingredient is one of the main obstacles to support the growth of livestock and aquaculture production in Vietnam. In 2006, FAO experts estimated that the total area used for meat production represented 23% to 30% of the world's total land area.

The overall objective of the project is to establish a model for rearing and using BSF larvae as a protein source for aquaculture and BSF larvae manure as an organic fertilizer source for crop production on farms.

APPLICATION ON BLACK SOLDIER FLY (HERMETIA ILLUCENS) REARING TECHNOLOGY AS A TOOL TO IMPROVE ENVIRONMENT

The Black Soldier Fly (BSF) is an insect that can be safely reared because they are adults that do not eat, require only water and do not transmit diseases. Larvae of BSF feed on a wide variety of organic material, including plant material (Hillaire et al., 2007). The use of larvae as a substitute protein source for fish will therefore reduce the dependence on commercial feed, it is estimated that the cost of 1 kg of feed with supplemented BSF larvae can be halved compared to full commercial feed.

The proposed solution is to provide BSF larvae as a sustainable protein source to livestock/aquaculture farmers to increase rural farmers' income and improve farming practices.

All activities will be conducted in Ho Chi Minh City, Long An and Tien Giang provinces. This activity will aim to improve both the quantity and quality of BSFs at smallholder farm levels. The best demonstration pilots will be done for the pieces of training on new techniques of BSF production in project areas.

The experiences of best practices on BSF breeding and the combination of fish and BSF in the project activities will be shared online (website as https://rttc. hcmuaf.edu.vn/ for Research and Technology Transfer Center, Nong Lam University, linked to other pages).
