LETTER Hh Lesson 3(6,7) I. AIMS

1. Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, students will able to recognize and pronounce the letter Hh and its sound correctly, understand, recognize and say the three Hh words, write the letter Hh.

2. Skills: - Develop Ss listening, reading, writing and speaking skill.

3. Attitude: - Help Ss to be more confident to communicate in English.

II. TEACHING AIDS

1. Teacher’s: Lesson plan, books,computer, speakers.

2. Students’: Books, notebooks, workbooks.

III. METHOD

- Communicative approach.

Techniques:+ Work individually, in pairs/ groups.

IV. PROCEDURE 1. Organization:

- Greetings: T – Ss greet each other.

- Checking attendance: Who’s absent today? Ss: Answer

2. Warm up: (5’) - Greet students

- Review the previous lesson by playing the “Word chain game”

- e.g.: Student 1: egg Student 2: egg, elf

-Point to the letter H in hat and revise the sound

-Point to the word and ask pupils to read them aloud.

-Point to the pictures and elicit their names.

Activity: Thumbs Up or Down (5’)

-show up the phonics cards and say the words -Ask the students to put their thumbs up if the teacher says correctly and put their thumbs down if the teacher says in correctly.

-e.g. Teacher: show the hen card, say hat Class: putting their thumbs down

Teacher: Good! show the horse card and say horse

Class: putting their thumbs up

Activity 7. Listen. Point and repeat (Track 52) (7’)

-Show the students the horse phonics card.

Point to it and say: /h/ - horse. Ask them to repeat.

-Mime trying to ride a horse and say: /h/ - horse. Encourage the students to do the same -Point to the pictures, the students do

corresponding actions and say the words.

-Divide the class intogroups of two.

-The first student point to the pictures and the other student say the word then change the roles.

Activty: Colour the pictures of the words that start the H sound (5’)

-Point to the pictures and have the students name them

-Set the time for students to colour the pictures of the words that start with h sound -Go around the class, provide necessary help Activity: Craftwork (10’)

-Ask the students to take out their notebooks.

-Ask them to choose one word the draw the letter and the picture in their notebooks.

-Tell them to colour the letter and the picture.

-The three first students who finish will show their picture to the class.

- Write on the board the big H and small h - Point to the letter H and say out loud

“This is the letter H /eɪtʃ/ and the letter H says /h/. Point to the letter H and say out loud “This is the letter H /eɪtʃ/. The letter Hsays /h/”

- Have the class repeat its sound chorally, then individually

- Have the students say the sound

individually, correct the pronunciation if necessary

Act: How to write letter H(6’) Writing& Speaking

- Demonstrate how to write the big H by strokes

- Draw an example of letter H using dashed lines

- Use a different colored chalk to model tracing the letter H

- Have some students practice tracing letter H on the board

- Have students trace letter H in the books - Students say /eɪtʃ/ after each finished

letter

- Go around to give help if necessary Repeat the same procedure with the lower letter h

Activity 2. Trace and match (page 18 – Activity Book)(6’)

Review the previous letters

- Show the phonics cards of elephant, fox and garden, the students look and read the words

- Ask the students to point out the first letter corresponding with each word (e, f, g)

- Remind students how to write these letters

- Choose the hat which has appropriate big letter with the small one

- Read the big sound after choosing the hat

- The students choose the crayon they like to colour the hats which they chose before

- Move around the class, ask individuals to read the sound they are colouring Activity 4. Circle the pictures of the words that start with the same sound (page 19–

- Call 1 volunteer student. Point to the first picture in question 1, ask the student to look at the picture and read aloud, find the first sound of the word - Point to the next pictures in question 1,

the student read gradually each picture and the first sound of each.

- Choose the picture of the words that start with the same sound with the first picture
