III. PROCEDURE.

1. Warm-up (5’)

*Option 1

- Sing the alphabet song.

- I spy.

- Stick pictures of the alphabet in many places on the walls of the class.

- Think of a word and tell the students the first letter. “I spy with my little eye, something beginning with __”

- Have students guess the word.

*Option 2

- Sing the alphabet song.

- Missing letters.

- Divide the class into four teams.

- Write five words on the board (about numbers), each missing a letter.

- Have one st from each team come up and try to fill in the missing letters. The first team with the most correct letters is the winner.

2. New lesson (30’)

A- Listen and circle. (CD2- Track 60) (15’)

- Have students look at the pictures, call out the objects they can see, and count them.

- Play audio and demonstrate the activity using the example.

- Play audio. Have students listen and circle A or B.

- Play audio again and check answers as a whole class.

*Optional activity 1: Conversation line

- Have students make two lines and stand face to face.

- Each student uses a picture of an object or objects to ask his/ her friend. E.g.  S1: ‘How many ( balls)?’ S2: (Six) ( balls).

B- Play the “Chain” game. (15’) - Have students look at the example.

- Divide the class into groups of four.

- Have the students stand up.

- Have Student A turn to Student B and say a sentence, then have Student B say a sentence.

- Next, have Student B turn to Student C and say a sentence, then have Student C say a sentence.

- Continue until all students have practiced.

- Have some groups demonstrate the act in front of the class.

*Optional activity 2

- Divide the class into groups of three or four.

- Have Ss talk about the numbers of toys or school objects they have.

- Examples: I have one car.

       I have two bags.

Wrap-up

*Option 1: Find the objects

- Hide some toys, school objects in the class.

- Have Ss go around the class and find the toys and objects.

- Have Ss work in pairs. One asks: “How many….?” and one answers the question.

*Option 2: Draw and say

- Have Ss draw their toys or school objects in a piece of paper then work in pairs. Student A

makes questions with “How many….?” and student B answers the questions.

3. Summary (5’)

1. Warm-up (5’)

*Option 1:Vanishing Flashcards Game

- Place flashcards about houses on the board. 

- Give them a moment to memorize the pictures and then tell them to close their eyes. 

- Take away one of the flashcards and then tell the Ss to open their eyes again. 

- The first student who guesses the missing flashcard correctly can win that flashcard (for 1 point) and takes away another flashcard in the next round.

*Option 2: WORD TENNIS        - Divide the class into two teams.

- Gives a category of vocabulary ( toys, school things, houses).

- Teams think of a new word in the group until they can’t think of a new word or they repeat an old word. Keep score on the board.

2. New lesson (30’)

A- Listen and circle. (CD2- Track 61) (15’)

- Have Ss look at the pictures and call out the rooms they can see. Play audio and demonstrate the activity using the example.

- Have students guess the answers before they listen.

- Play audio. Have students listen and circle A or B.

- Play audio again and check answers as a whole class.

*Optional activity 1: Role-play

- Have students work in pairs, use the correct pictures of listening task to practice again.

B- Play the “Board race”. (15’) - Have students look at the example.

- Divide the class into teams and have one student from each team stand a distance from the board.

- Stick two flashcards on the board and then say one of them.

- Have the students race to the board, touch that flashcard, and say the correct sentence.

- The first student to touch the flashcard and say the sentence gets a point for their team.

Continue with other students.

*Optional activity 2:  Matching

- Write three sentences: “This is my living room.” “This is my bedroom.” “This is my kitchen.”

on the board.

- Have students read the sentences on the board.

- Give students flashcards.

- Have Ss hold the flashcards to match the sentences on the board and read them aloud.

Wrap-up

*Option 1: Erase the word

- Write some sentences on the board. E. g. “This is my living room.”

- Have one student come to the board.

- Read the sentence and omit a word in it and have him/ her erase this word. Continue with the others.

*Option 2: Run and Draw

- Divide the class into four groups and have them make four lines.

- Have the first student of each group run to the board and draw a house, the next student draw a room,…When they finish drawing, each of them say a sentence about the house. E.g. “ This is my bedroom.”

3. Summary (5’)

- Retell the content of the lesson.

- One student read the words aloud.

- Tell the students that any time his/her friend reads a word that they have written down, they can cross out that word.

When one student has crossed out three words in a vertical or horizontal or diagonal line, then, shouts "Bingo!".

2. New lesson (30’)

- Have students look at the pictures and call out the people, places, and objects they can see.

- Play audio and demonstrate the activity using the example.

- Play audio. Have students listen and draw lines.

- Play audio again and check answers as a whole class.

B. Play "Stepping stones." (10’) - Divide the class into pairs.

- Have Student A start at A and say the first sentence.

- Have Student B start at B and say the first sentence.

- Have students take turns saying the sentences as they go all the way around

"Do as I say, not as I do" game - Divide the class into groups.

- Tell students they must only follow the commands, not the actions of the teacher.

- Demonstrate the game by giving the students different commands.

- If the action and what the teacher says don’t match, students don’t copy the action, but do what the teacher says instead.

- Give points to the first teams who do the correct actions.

- Have students open their workbooks – page 66 A. Read and draw.

- Divide the class into pairs and give each pair a die.

- Student 1 throws the dice and reads out a number.

- Student 2 tries to do the action. Swap roles and continue the game Option 2:

“Speak Button Game” game  - Divide the class into four groups.

- Invite one student from each group to come to the board.

- Explain that the four students are going to race to answer.

- Draw a circle on the board and write the words 'Speak Button' inside the circle.

- The teacher shows up a flashcard.

- The students run to the board and race to touch the speak button. The first student who touches the button guesses what the flashcard is.

- If he/she guesses correctly, he/she get one point for his/her team.

- Have the students try to read the word that his or her team is forming then answer.

- Have students look at the pictures and read the questions, think of what they will write on the blanks.

- Have students write their favorite month, write the days, numbers and decorate it to make their own calendar.

- Have students draw something at their important days. E.g. birthday…

- Have students work in pairs and tell their friends about their calendars.

E.g. This is my favorite month. And my birthday is on Monday.

Option 2:

Speed Game

- Have students work in pairs.

- Give one set days of the week cards to each pair of students. 

- Ask students to place the cards face down on their desk and mix them up.

- Have one pair make an example.

Have pupils look at the sentences and guess the suitable words to fill in the blank.

- Play the recording 2 times pupils to listen and fill the blanks. Check their guess. Compare the answer with the partner.    

- Play the recording again pupils check their answers. T give the answer:

- Have pupils act out the dialogue in pairs or groups for correction.

- Ask some questions to ensure pupils’ comprehension of the listening text.

2.3. Let’s chant (10’)

Tell Ss that they are going to say the Chant “ Where are you?”

Have them read the chant and check comprehension.

Play the recording all through Ss listen and  follow in their books.

Play the recording again Ss listen and  read line by line.

Divide the class into2 groups .G1: read the questions, G2: read the answers.

Then exchange.

When they are familiar with the rhythm, show them how to say the chant and do the actions.

Get groups  of Ss to sit face to face and practice chanting and doing the actions. Get around and offer help, if necessary..

- Tell the class that they are going to read the paragraph and then fill the gap.

- Give them time to think about what to write.

- Remind them to write the first letter of each sentence and the name in capital letters, and put commas and full stops at the right places.

+ Post- writing

- Get them to swap and read their writing in pairs before inviting two or three pupils to read their answers aloud.

Activity 6. Project (10’) Introduce the situation.

- Explain how to do the exercise: draw and colour a weather icon for tomorrow’s weather in your place.And then present them to your class.

-Ss act out in front of the class. The rest listen to and give the remark. Correct the pronunciation.
