- Thêm “ d” vào sau động từ nếu kết thúc bằng “e”

Eg: likeliked, arrive arrived

- Gấp đôi phụ âm cuối nếu trước nó là một nguyên âm: stop ^ stopped, fit

- Đổi y^ i+ ed nếu động từ một vần kết thúc bằng +y: study
