WEEK 23

Unit 13: WOULD YOU LIKE SOME MILK?

Lesson 3- Part 1, 2, 3

I/ Objectives: By the end of the lesson Ss will be able to pronounce the sounds of the letterfin the words beef/ leafand the sounds of the letterssh in the words

fish/dish respectively.

Teacher’s and Students’ activities Content Warm-up : (4’)

Spend a few minutes revising the previous lesson by organizing the game Slap the board using the words for school subjects.

Act: 1 Listen and repeat (10’)

Tell pupils that they are going to practise saying the sounds of the letterf in the words beef/ leaf and the sounds of the letters sh in the words

fish/dishrespectively.

First put the letters f and sh on the board.

Play the recording and ask pupils to repeat a few times

Then put the words beef/ leaf, fish/dish and the sentences on the board.

Play the recording a few times and let pupils say the swards and the sentences, paying attention to the target sounds.

Do choral and individual repetition of the sounds, words and sentences until pupils feel confident.

Get some pupils to say the sentences in front of the class.

Give them a few seconds to read the sentences in silence and guess the words to fill the gaps.

Have pupils listen to the recording and tick the appropriate boxes.

Then ask them to fill the gaps with beef/ leaf, fish/dish.

Have them swap their answers before checking as a class. Go around offering help, if necessary.

Ask pupils to read the sentences aloud.

Act: 3 Let’s chant (10’)

Tell pupils that they are going to read the chant Would you like some fish?

Have them read the chant and check comprehension.

Play the recording more than once, if necessary, for pupils to do choral and individual repetition.

Show them how to chant and do actions.

Call two groups of three to give a demonstration, one group chants the three questions and the other chants the three answers.

Get pairs or groups to sit opposite of each other and practise chanting and doing actions.

Call two groups of three to the front of the class to chant and do actions. The rest of the class claps along to the rhythm.

3 Let’s chant

Consolidation (3’) What have you learnt?

Pronounce the sounds of the letter f in the words beef/ leaf and the sounds of the letters sh in the words fish/dish respectively.

Revising the previous lesson by getting two groups of three to go to the front of the class to chant Would you like some fish? and do actions. The rest of the class craps to the rhythm or does actions.

Act: 4 Read and complete. (10’)

Tell pupils that they are going to read the text about Linda and her younger brother’s favourite food and drink, then complete the table.

Get them to look at the table and guess the food and drink they like to fill in the gaps.

Have them read the text to find the information they need to complete the task. If necessary, get them to work in pairs.

Give pupils time to do the task independently. Go around offering help, if necessary.

Get them to swap their answers before checking as a class.

6. Project (8’)

Tell pupils that they are going to interview their classmates about their favourite food and drink and report the class the results.

Give each of them a small piece of paper and ask them to copy the table in the Pupil's Book on the paper.

Have pupils to ask some classmates about their favourite foodand drink and tick the table.

Have them tell he class their results.

Example:

Play the recording three times for pupils to listen and repeat in choral, pointing to the characters speaking

Play the recording again for them to listen and repeat in lines

Tell pupils that they are going to practice asking and answering questions about

Elicit the meaning of the adjectives

Call five pairs to act out the dialogue in front of the class. Check as a class and correct pronunciation, if necessary.

Divide the class into groups of five

Give instructions: Say Find someone who’s tall.

The group which is the quickest to point to a classmate who fits that description and says the correct sentence get a point. The group that gets most points wins.
