UNIT 18 WHAT'S YOUR PHONE NUMBER?

Lesson 2:1, 2, 3 I.Objectives.

- By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

1. Knowledge:

-Ask and answer questions about the someone’s phone number.

- identify the situation for conversation through listening and speaking between Mai and Tony

- Accept and decline an invitation.

- Pupils can suggest something, accept or decline the suggestion.

- identify the situation for conversation - talk about the someone’s phone number.

1. Warm up (5’) sing

Aim: motivate students and lead in the topic Input:

+ - Play the video.

Procedure

Ss sing in chorus and group.

2. Presentation ( 30 mins)

Act 1 : Look, listen and repeat (8’)

Aim: identify the situation for conversation through listening and speaking between Mai and Tonny about phone number.

Input: the dialogue in part 1 on page 54 Picture a, b,c,d

CD Procedure:

* Set the scene:

- T uses the pictures of the dialogue on page 54(Student book 2) to lead Ss in the conversation - Ask students to look at the 4 pictures in the book and check comprehension by eliciting the answers for these questions.

+ Who are they in the picture?

+ Where are they?What are they doing?

+What are they doing?

- procedures the first picture and explain what they say.

- look at the pictures and give the answers

- Play the recording all the way through for Ss to listen and follow in their books.

- Play the recording again for Ss repeat the dialogue several times ( line by line in the bubbles).

- Point to the picture for Ss to read the dialogue again - Have Ss to find out the new structure.

Act 2. Point and say. (12’)

Aim:Accept and decline an invitation.

Input:

- Sentence Patterns: Would you like to ______? ̶ I’d love to. / Sorry, I can’t.

- Vocabulary: go for a walk, go for a picnic, go fishing, go skating

- 4 pictures about the topic decline an invitation.

Procedure:

Sentence Pattern:

*Presenting the vocabulary

*Presenting model sentences.

- Ask ss to look at the pictures to identify the activities.

- Point to the picture a and elicit the class to fill in the gap. Put the sentence on the board:

Would you like to ______? ̶ I’d love to. / Sorry, I can’t.

and have Ss repeat them several times.

- Check the form/ use/ meaning/ intonation

* Practice.

- Tell Ss that they are going to practice making comparisons.

- get pupils time to work in pairs to ask and answer, using the structure.

- invite a few pairs to act out their conversations in front of the class.

- Pronounce the words with stress respectively.

- Pronounce two-syllable words with the stress on the second syllable re'peat, en'joy, in'vite, and com'plete.

- Read the gapped sentences, listen and circle the letters showing the correct words filling the gaps. Then say the completed sentences aloud.

- Say the chant I’d like to invite you to my party.

- Introduce the sylable of a word - Ps’ attention on the words re'peat, en'joy, in'vite, and com'plete.. Tell ss that this is a one syllable word

- Listen and repeat. Read in groups. in pairs.

- Ps practice the sounds, words, and sentences carefully

- Some Ss reports the answer. The rest of the class listen and give comments.

- Ask ss to find some other words with the syllable have learnt.

- Do the same with the two, three and four syllable words.

Aim: - Listen and circle the letters showing the correct word completing the sentences. then write the word and say the completed sentences aloud.

- In put: 2 sentences in part 2 on page 56 and listening file of part 2

- Procedures:

- Run through the task then tell ss that they are going to listen and complete the sentence they hear.

- Listen to the recording 2 times and write.

- Check their guess. Compare the answer with the partner.

- Check and correct.

- Ask ss to practise saying the sentences

Out put: Ss listen and write the correct words in the missing sentences. Ss read the sentences.

*Activity 3. Let’s chant(10’)

- Aim: - Say the chant I’d like to invite you to my party?

- In put: The chant “I’d like to invite you to my party?

?” on page 56 and the listening file - Procedures:

-- Run through the sentence by sentences - Play the CD for Ss to listen.

- Play the CD. Ask students to read each sentence in the chant.

- Play the chant again and asks students to read.

- Ask students to read the chant, combine with slap their hands.

- Divide class into three groups and chant. Which group chants well, that group is the winner.

- Tell the class that they are going to write about their activities on Sunday

- Give them time to read the words given to find the information which they should write.

+While- writing

- Set a time limit for them to do the task independently. Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary.

- Remind them to write the first letter of each sentence and the name in capital letters, and put commas and full stops at the approciate places.

+Post- writing

- Get them to swap and read their writing in pairs before inviting two or three pupils to read their answers aloud.

*Activity 3. Project(10’)

- Aim:- Ask four classmates for their phone numbers. Then tell the class about them.
