2. LISTEN AND READ
On Sunday, Ba invited Liz to join his family on a day trip to his home village about 60 kilometers to the north of Ha Noi. The village lies near the foot of a mountain and by a river. Many people go there on weekends to have a rest after a hard working week. The journey to the village is very interesting. People have the chance to travel between the green paddy fields and cross a small bamboo forest before they reach a big old banyan tree at the entrance to the village.
Liz met Ba’s family at his house early in the morning; and after two hours raveling by bus, they reached the big old tree. Everyone felt tired and hungry, so they sat down under the tree and had a snack.
After the meal, they started to walk into the village for about thirty minutes to visit Ba’s uncle. Then, they walked up the mountain to visit the shrine of a Vietnamese hero and enjoyed the fresh air there. In the afternoon, they went boating in the river and had a picnic on the river bank before going home late in the evening. It was an enjoyable day. Liz took a lot of photos to show the trip to her parents.
“I wish I could visit your village again some day,” Liz told Ba.
“You’ll always be welcome here, Liz,” Ba replied.

Translation:
Vào ngày chủ nhật, Ba mời Liz cùng với gia đình anh đi chơi một ngày về quê anh cách Hà Nội khoảng 60 kilômet về phía bắc. Ngôi làng nằm gần chân một ngọn núi và cạnh một dòng sông. Nhiều người thường đến đó vào những ngày cuối tuần để nghỉ ngơi sau một tuần làm việc vất vả.
Chuyến đi đến ngôi làng rất thú vị. Mọi người có dịp đi giữa những cánh đồng lúa xanh và băng qua một cánh rừng tre nhỏ trước khi đến một cây đa to già nằm ngay lối vào làng.
Liz gặp gia đinh Ba tại nhà anh vào sáng sớm, và sau hai giờ đi xe buýt, họ đến cây đa to già đó. Mọi người cảm thấy mệt mỏi và đói bụng, vì thế họ ngồi xuống dưới gốc cây và ăn một bữa ăn nhẹ.
Sau bữa trưa, họ bắt đầu đi vào làng khoảng ba mươi phút để thăm cậu của Ba. Sau đó họ đi lên núi để thăm đền thờ một anh hùng dân tộc Việt Nam và tận hưởng không khí trong lành ở đó. Vào buổi chiều, họ chèo thuyền trên sông và tổ chức một bữa ăn ngoài trời trên bờ sông trước khi trở về nhà vào lúc xế chiều. Đó quả là một ngày thú vị. Liz chụp rất nhiều hình để khoe với ba mẹ cô về chuyến đi.
Liz nói với Ba. “Ước gì tôi lại có thể đến thăm làng của bạn vào một ngày nào đó.”
