Unit 3 letter Pp Lesson 1

I. Objectives:

1. Knowledge: After the lesson, Ss will be able to recognize and pronounce the letter P and its sound correctly, understand, recognize and say the three P words. Write the letter P

2. Skills: listening, speaking, writing 3. Attitude: Ss like studying English II. Teaching aids:

T: Pictures, books, flash card SS: Ss’ book, activity book III. Method: MAT, TPA.

IV.Procedure:

1. Organization: (1’) - Greeting

- Check absent students

2. Warm up (2’)

Put up the phonics cards from the previous unit (olive, orange, omelets, octopus) on the board.

Write the first and last letter below each phonics card.

Ask individual students to come to the board and complete the words.

Ask the rest of the class for verification.

3. New lesson

*Activity 1: Presentation & Practice (10mins) - T write on board the letter P to introduce to the

students the new lesson.

- Instruct students how to pronounce the letter name and the letter sound

- T has Ss repeat several times and check students’

pronunciation - Ss: listen and repeat

- T uses the phonics cards with pen, panda, and parrot, read the words out loud and has students

- T uses gestures to help students to understand the meanings of the three words.

- T;Stick the cards on board and have students repeat the words chorally several times (in the correct order and then in any order).

- T:Ask the students to open their books and colour in the letters

*Activity 2: Sound and Word Game (3’) - T:Divide the class into two teams, team A and

team B.

- T;Put one of the phonics cards (e.g: Panda) on the board.

- T:Ask a student from Team A to identify the sound (one point), the picture (one point) or both (two points).

- T:Continue with a student from Team B.

- T:Write the points for each team on the board.

- T:Give feedback

*Activity 3:( (10 mins)

- T:Have students look at the book and listen to the words: a pen, a panda, a parrot

-Ss: look and listen

- Have Ss listen and repeat the words for several times

- Ss read in chorus

- T:Ask the students to look at the pairs of pictures on the side.

- Ss look at the book

- T:Go around the classroom asking the students to name the item they are matching.

- Ss: match individually

*Activity 4: (10mins)

- T:Use the phonics cards on the board and have students sing the chant with pen. Do the same with panda and parrot.

- T:Do the chant again using gestures for each word.

- Ss: read the chant from chorus to pair.

Activity 5: Letter Writing Race Game (5’) - T:Ask the students to open their notebooks.

- T;Give the students 2 minutes to write as many Ss’s as they can.

- T:The winner is the student who has written the most.

4. Consolidation: (2’)

- Call Ss to retell what they’ve learn - Practice at home.

Lesson 2

I. Objectives:

1. Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to read and say the three P words correctly recognize and say a new P word correctly

2. Skills: listening, speaking.

3. Attitude: Ss like studying English II. Teaching aids:

T: Pictures, books, flash card SS: Ss’ book, activity book III. Method: MAT, TPA.

IV. Procedure:

1.Organization: (1’) - Greeting

- Show the phonics cards, ask students to do corresponding actions then say the sound of the letter and words.

- T plays the CD. Have the students listen to the story once.

- T Play the CD again. The students listen and point to the pictures of the key words when they hear them in the story

- T reads the printed words then let Ss look at the pictures and say the words.

- Ss: look and say

- -TAsk students work in pairs. One reads while the other checks, then they change roles

- Ss: work in pair

Activity 2: (5 mins)

- T point to and says the sight words and explain the meaning of each words then has Ss repeat

- T has some students read them aloud.

- Ss: read aloud

Activity 3 (10 mins)

- T asks Ss open the book p.72 look unit 3 then asks them read the song

- Ss: read in chorus

- T follows the same procedure and presents the rest of the song.

- T plays the CD.

- Ss: listen and sing along.

- T plays the CD again. The students sing and do corresponding actions.
