UNIT 4 : LEARNING A FOREIGN LANGUAGE LESSON 4 : Read
A. Objectives:
1. Aims:
- Read the advertisements to get information
- By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to get the information about the English classes from the advertisements.
2. Practice skill:
- Practice comprehension reading skill.
3. The knowledge needs to get:.
+ Standard knowledge: Read the advertisements to get information.
Advanced knowledge: write an advertisement.
4. Basic language:
- Vocabulary: Intermedeate, advanced, well-qualified, council,academy.
Tenses: simple present tense.
5. Attitude:
- Help ss to have good consciousness in order to practice reading for details about advertisements.

- Model-Talk-Practice, individual work, pair work
- Some techniques can be used: T/F prediction, rub out and remember,gap fill and writing .

Advanced knowledge: know the form of a letter of inquiry and how to write.
4. Basic language:
- Vocabulary: edition,editor,edit,look forward to +v-ing, inquiry, request,detail,exactly,express.
Tenses: simple present tense and past tense.
5. Attitude:
- Help ss to have good consciousness in order to practice reading for details about advertisements.

3. Writing a letter:
- Have students read again the three
advertisements on page 36 and choose one of the schools they want to attend to improve their English.
- Get students to write a letter of inquiry to the
institution requesting for more information about the courses and fees. the exercise Matching above will help students write their letter easy.
- After finishing the letter, students have to compare with their partners and make some corrections.
- Give feedback. Call on some students to read their letters before class.
- Make some corrections.
Step 3. Post Writing : Correction
- Choose three letters which were written to 3 schools.
- Ask students to read aloud the letters.
- Give feedback and correct.

advertisement on today’s TV programs. I am very intrested in learning English and I would like some more information about your Institute.
I can speak a little English, but I read it very slowly and my writing is bad. So I want to improve my reading and writing.
