Procedure:

-Have Ss open their books page 50 Tells ps that they are going to practise saying the letters, words and sentences in the book.

Put the phnics letters i-e and I on the board and say them a few times ask ps to repeat after you. Prompt ps to say the words and sentences, paying attention to the target phonics letters.

Do choral repetition of the words and sentences until ps feel confident

-Call on some Ss to read out loud.

-Tell the class that they are going to say the chant Follow the procedure in Teaching the unit components in Introduction.

- Have pupils read the chant and check their comprehension.

- Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen and follow in their books.

Play it again for them to do choral repetition. Get them to practise chanting and doing actions in groups.

- Call two groups to the front of the class to chant and do actions: one group chants the questions and the other chants the answers.

The rest of the class claps their hands along to the rhythm
