UNIT 8: THE WORLD AROUND US Lesson 3(1) Geography (p. 68)

Time: 45 minutes

I. THE AIMS OF THE LESSON.

1. Knowledge.

By the end of this lesson, students will be able to give advice about visiting natural wonders and listening to get information about them.

Vocabulary: sandcastle, highland, waterfall, bay, forest, island Structure: structure of Can & should

2. Ability:

- Students pratice listening, and repeating.

- Students practice giving advice about visiting natural wonders and listening to get information.

3. Quality:

- Having the good attitude to working in groups, individual work, pairwork, cooperative learning.

- Having serious learning attitudes; love learning English, energetically and actively participate in learning activities.

II. TEACHING EQUIPMENT AND LEARNING MATERIALS.

- Teacher prepares the lesson plan, textbooks, teaching aids such as personal computers, projectors, speakers…

- Students prepare textbooks, notebooks, studying tools … ready for the lesson.

III. TEACHING PROCESS.

1. Activity 1: Warm up: (5 minutes) a) Objective:

2. Activity 2: Newwords (10 minutes)

a) Objective: Help students learn vocabulary about natural wonders of Vietnam b) Content: write the letters in the boxes divide class into pairs and check with their partners. Check answers as a whole class

c) Products: Students know meaning of the newwords, how to read them.

d) Organization of implementation:

- Help students listen and choose the correct answer by cirling “doing sports” or

“taking photos”.

- Help students listen and number the statements.

b) Content: Listen and choose the place to visit. Listen and number.

c) Products: The useful information of some natural wonders in Vietnam, to improve listening comprehension.

d) Organization of implementation:

* Pre - listening

- Set the scene and introduce the listening task.

* While listening: (for general comprehension)

- Play the audio (CD2 - 37) once.

b. Now, listen and number.

- Pay attention to the listening task individually.

- Listen the audio and answer the question individually.

- Share their answers with their partners.
