LESSON 3 - ( PART 1-2-3)

I.AIMS

1. Knowledge: By the end of this unit pupils can

- Say questions and answers with the correct intornation

Phonetic: What do you do in your free time? – I surf the internet.

What do they do in their free time? – They go camping.

2. Skills: - Develop Ss listening skills.

3.Attitude: -In this lesson, studious and obedient students and love their hometown, family and friends.

II.TEACHING AIDS

1. Teacher’s: English book , lesson plan, word cards, CD, cassette .soft book 2. Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks.

III.TEACHING METHODS

-Communicative approach.

- Give tasks.

- Read the sentences in silence before listening the recording to do the task.

- Play the recording: Pupils listen the recording 2 times and circle a or b to complete sentences - Check and correct

- Introduce the Chant : Why should he do that?

Ps listen to the tape & read the chant line by line Ps practise chanting: one chants the questions and the othPs listen to the tape & read the chant line by line.

Put the class into two groups to practise chanting:

one chants the questions and the other chants the answers

- Ps practise chanting and doing actions.

- 2 groups to say the chant and do actions. The rest of the class claps along to the rhythm.

They go camping.

-Tell the class that they are going to and draw lines to match the people with the things. Explan the meanings of the new words camp, forest, go hiking and return.

-Tell them to look at the people and the things to match before reading the text, if necessary get pupils to work in pairs or groups.

- Give them time to do the task individendtly.Go aroud offering help, if necessary.

- Get them to compare their answers in pairs before announcing the answers to the class.

Provide explanation. If necessary.

5. Write about what your family do at weekends.8’

- Tell the class that they are going to write about what your family do at weekends.

- Have them read the gapped sentences and think about what their family usually do at weekends - Give them enough time to do the task.

- Get them to swap and read their answers in pairs before inviting two or three pupils to read their answers aloud

Activity 6 6. Project: 7’

- Tell the class that they are going to interiew two of their classmates about what they do in their free time.

- get them to work in groups and copy the table below. Give them time to do their inteviews in class and complete the table. Then ask individual pupils to report their results.

characters(Linda and Phong) and the context in the book guess what the story is about and point at each picture to elicit their answers to these questions

Have them look at the book and listen to the tape.

Play the recording through.

- Play the recording for Ss listen.

- Ask them to repeat a few times.

- Repeat the procedure with the rest pictures.

- Practice with Ss.

- Divide the class into 2 groups. Ask Ss to practice in pairs: One repeats Phong’s part, the other repeats Linda’part

Tell the class that they are going to read the text and complete the sentences.

- Give them a few seconds to read the text and given words. Remind them to focus on the context to guess the words to fill the gaps .

- Set a time limit for them to do the task independently. Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary.

- Get them to compare their answers in pairs before checking as a class. If there is enough time, have the class read the completed text aloud.

Activity 6

6. Let’s sing: 10’

Tell the class that they are going to sing Once upon a time,… Have them read the lyrics. Check their comprehension.

- Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen and follow in their books.

- Play it again for them to do choral repetition line by line.

- When pupils are familiar with the melody, ask them to sing along with the music before having them practise singing and doing actions in groups.
