UNIT 6: HOW MANY LESSONS DO YOU HAVE TODAY?

Lesson 2 Part 4 +5+6 I. OBJECTIVES

1. Knowledge: By the end of this lesson, Ps will be able to listen and write information about how often someone has a subject.

- Sentence Pattern“How often do you have….? I have it + frequency expression.

- Vocab: Revision of days of the week, once/twice a week, three/four times a week.

2. Skills: - Develope listening and writing skills.

3. Core competencies and personal qualities: - Help Ss to be more confident to communicate in English with others.

II. TEACHING AIDS

1. Teacher’s: Lesson plan, books, flashcards or pictures, CDs and computer, sachmem.vn, English room(5E2).

2. Students’: Books, notebooks, workbooks.

III. PROCEDURE

Teacher’s and Ss’ activities Content 1. Warm up: (5’)

- Play game: Slap the board

- Ss play into 3 groups. T & Ss praise the winners

2. New lesson:

Act 1. Listen and circle a or b.(8’)

*Pre:Tell the class that they are going to listen and circle a or b to complete the sentences.

Ask them to read the sentences and guess the answers.

*While:Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen. Play it again for them to do the task.

- Play again to confirm the answers.

*Post: Game Whisper.

Act 3. Let's play(8’).

- Tell the class that they are going to play Slap the board. Practise the names of the subjects and the frequency expressions with them first.

Display the pictures on the board as in the Student's Book. Then ask two groups of four pupils to stand at the board. Call out the subjects or frequency expressions for the groups to slap.

The slower group is out and the quicker group will play against a new group. The team that stays in the game until the end is the

winner.

Have the class make sentences with the names of the subjects and the frequency expressions 3.Summary: -Ask Ss to focus on the model sentences.

- Retell the content of the lesson.

- Say questions and answers with the correct sentences stress.

- Listen and repeat words, listen and circle.

- Do the chant “How often do you have…?”

- Sentence Parttens:“How often do you have…? – I have…”

2. Skills: - Develope Ss listening & writing skill.

3. Core competencies and personal qualities: - Help Ss to be more confident to communicate in English.

II. TEACHING AIDS

III. PROCEDURE

Teacher’s and Ss’ activities Content 1. Warm up: (5’)

- Playing pass the ball game.

Spend a few minutes to revise the previous lesson by passing the ball to ask and answers the questions in Lesson 2, activity 5.

- T praises the winners 3. New lesson:

Act 1 . Listen and repeat(12’).

- Tell Ps that they are going to practise saying questions and answers with the correct sentence stress.

- Play the recording all the way through for Ps to listen and follow in their books.

- Play the recording again for Ps to listen and repeat the words and the sentences twice.

Note: The words which are usually stressed in sentences are nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs. Sometimes, words such as this, that, these, those and other words are stressed when the speaker wants to emphasize particular information.

Act 2. Listen and circle a or b. Then say the sentences aloud(8’).

*Pre: Tell Ps that they are going to listen and circle a or b to complete the sentences.

- Give them a few seconds to read the sentences in silence

*While: Play the recording twice for them to do the task.

- Get Ps to compare their answers in pairs before checking as a class.

- Have Ss read the completed sentences aloud.

Act 3. Let’s chant(10’).

- Tell Ps that they are going to say the chant How often do you have….?

- Have Ss read the chant and check their comprehension.

- Play the recording all the way through for Ps to listen and follow in their books.

- Play the recording again for Ps to listen and repeat line by line.

- Put the class into two groups to practise chanting the questions and answers respectively.

-Have them practise saying the chant and do actions in groups.

- Set a time limited for Ps to practise talking.

Remind them to answer the questions with information about themselves.

- Invite one or two groups to say the chant and do actions. The rest of the class claps along to the rhythm.

- Get some Ps to say the words and sentences.

Correct the pronunciation, if necessary.
