WEEK 32

UNIT 19 WHICH PLACE WOULD YOU LIKE TO VISIT ? LESSON 1 (1, 2)

I. Objectives:

By the end of the lesson Ps will be able to: use the words and phrases related to the topic say question and answer with the correct sentence stress.

II. Language focus:

- Sentence patterns: Which place would you like to visit ? I’d like to visit ………

- Vocabulary: Thong Nhat park, Trang Tien bridge, Ben Thanh Market, Bai Dinh Pagada, the museum of history, Thien Mu pagoda, The city theatre, Hoa Lu temple.

III. Resources:

1. Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, pictures, cassette.

2. Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks.

3. Class organization:

IV. Procedure:

Teacher’s and Students’ activities Content 1. Warm up:(5’)

- Spend a few minutes revising the previous lesson by getting two groups of Ps to play Questions and answers or having the class do a dictation, using the words learnt in the previous lesson.

2. New lesson:(25’)

1. Look, listen and repeat:

- Have the class look at the pictures. Introduce the story by pointing at each character and elicit their answers to these questions : Which place would you like to visit ?

- Play the recording all the way through for the class to listen and follow in their books. Play it

again for them to repeat line by line. Finally, point to each picture for them to say the words in

each bubble.

2. Point and say:

- Tell Ss that they are going to practice asking and asnwering questions about lessons , using Which place would you like to visit ?

- Review the names of the lesson with the class.

- Get them to practice the answer before introducing the questions. Point to the timetable for the class to say I have….( Math)

- Ask the question Which place would you like to visit ?

for the class to answers chorally.

- Have pupil practice the question and answer in pairs. Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary.

- Invite one or two pairs to act out the dialogues in front of the class.

- Play the recording all the way through for Ps to listen and do the task. Play it again for them to do the task.

- Get them to compare their answer before checking as a class.. Give explanations for the answers which Ps find difficult. Play the recording again to confirm the answers

- Tell the class that they are going to read and complete. Give them a few second to read.

Remind them to focus on the context to select the appropriate words from the book.

- Set a time limit for Ps to do the task independently. Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary.

- Have them practice the questions , using a substitution drill. Point at each picture for them to say the question. Explain the words under each picture and have pupils repeat them once or twice before practicing the answers.

- Point at the pictures and say the question What do you think of……?

For the class to answer, using the prompts.

- Ask them to work in pairs. Monitor the activity and offer help if necessary.

- Invite one or two pairs to perform the activity.

Then give feedback.

3. Let’s talk:

- Tell Ps that they are going to practise further by asking and answering questions in their books. If you want to add variety, you can invite them to imagine they are in different school and give different answer. Tell them to make their own timetables before practising

- Set a time limit for Ps to practise talking.

Remind them to asnswer the questions with information about themselves. Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary.

- Invite one or two pairs to act out their conversations. Then give feedback.

-Tell the class that they are going to play tick- tac -toe Practise the names of the subjects and the frequency expresstions with them first.

Display the pictures on the board as in the Student’s Book. Then ask two groups of four pupils to stand at the board. Call out the subjects or frequency expresstions for the groups to slap.

The slower group is out and the quicker group will play against a new group. The team that stays in the game until the end is the winer.

- Have the class make sentences with the names of the subjects and the frequency expresstions.
