UNIT 17 WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO EAT ? LESSON 3 (1, 2, 3)

I. Objectives:

By the end of the lesson Ps will be able to: use the words and phrases related to the topic say question and answer with the correct sentence stress.

II. Language focus:

Sentence patterns: What would you like to eat ? How many/ much ……..do you eat/drink every day?

Vocabulary: banana, rice, sausages, water.

III. Resources:

1. Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, pictures, cassette.

2. Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks.

3. Class organization:

- Spend a few minutes revising the previous lesson by getting two groups of Ps to play Questions and answers or having the class do a dictation, using the words learnt in the previous lesson.

- Put the words What would you like to eat ? I’d like …… on the board. Play the

recording for Ps to listen. Then play the recording again for them to repeat the sentences.

- Tell the class that they are going to listen to recoding and circle a or b to complete the sentences.

- Give Ps a few seconds to read the sentences in silence before playing the recording for them to do the task.

- Have them listen to the recording and do the task indipendently. Go around and ofer help, if necessary. – Have Ps swap their answers before checking as a class. Then ask them to read the completed sentences aloud.

3. Let’s chant: (15’)

- Tell the class that they are going to say the chant ‘Healthy food and drink ? Follow the procedure in Teaching the unit components in Introduction.

- Play the recording all the way through for Ps to do choral and individual repetition.

Show them how to chant and do actions.

Invite two groups of four to give a demonstration. One group chants the

questions and the other chants the answers.

- Call two groups to the front of the class to chant and do actions. The rest of the class claps their hands along to the rhythm.

- Have the class read the statements and check their comprehension.

- Give them time to colour the stars and invite a few Ps to read the statements aloud.

- Give further support to Ps who find it difficult to achieve certain objectives.

- Get Ps to work in groups of four to ask and answer.

- Set a time limit for the class to practise.

Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary.

- Invite a few pairs to act out their conversations. They can make up the number of lessons they have so that each pair will have difference answers. Then give feedback.
