Date of preparing: 15/4/2021 Week 31 Period 119 UNIT 18: WHAT ARE YOU DOING?

Lesson 2: Part 1-2-3 I. OBJECTIVES:

1. Knowledge:

By the end of the lesson Ps will be able to: Use the words and phrases related to the topic indoor activities.

- Ask and answer questions about what someone is doing , using What are you doing?

And what s he/ she doing?

- Sentence Partners:

- Vocabulary: singing, drawing, playing the piano, watching TV.

2. Skills:

- Develop Ss speaking and listening skills 3. Attitude: Educate Sts to love their lesson.

Work hard II. TEACHING AIDS:

1. Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, pictures, cassette.

2. Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks.

- Work in pairs , individual, in groups ….

2. Warm up :6’

Spend a few minutes revious unit by having the class say the chant Do you have any cats? And sing the song Do you have any pets? Draw ps attension to the title of the unit and check comprehension. Have them repeat it once twice.

3. New lesson

Teacher’s and students’ activities Content

* Activity 1: (7’)

- Tells ps that they are going to practise asking and answing questions about toys. Give a few seconds for pupils to look at the first picture and elicit the name of the characters and what bubbles a few times. Repeat the procedure with the second picture.

- Do choral and individual repetition, pointing to the characters speaking.

- Play the recording for ps to listen and say along.

* Activity 2: (10’)

- Tell ps that they are going to practise asking and answing questions . Give a few seconds for ps to look at the pictures and read the words under the pictures in silence. Elicit the meaning of the words and have ps repeat each of the words a few time. Point to each picture and ask ps to fill the missing words. Puts the question and the answer on the board and have ps repeat each of them a few times.

- Do choral and individual repetition, using the pictures or words as prompts.

- Get ps to word in pairs.

- Check as a class.

2. Point and say Structures

*Activity 3:7’

Tell ps that they are going to practise more with their friends. Using their own words.Give ps a few seconds to look at the picture and check comprehension. Give feedback and elicit the words to fill the bubbles. Put the question and the answers on the board for ps to repeat a few times. Call a pair to give a demonstration before starting the activity.

- Get ps to word in pairs. Go around to offer help and correct the pronunciation, if necessary.

- Call a few pairs to act out the dialogue in front of the class.

Spend a minutes revising the previos lesson by calling a few pair to the front of the class to act out the dialogues with What is he/ she doing? Using the picture in section 3.

- Tell ps that they are going to listen and number the correct boxes. Give a few seconds for ps to look at the pictures. Elicit the information in each picture and give feedback.

- Play the recording three times for ps to listen, do the task and check their answers.

- Get ps to swap and check their answers before checking as a class.

* Activity 3: 5’

- Tell ps that they are going to sing the song I love my parrents. Read the lyrics and check comprehension.

Sing the song ar play the recording all the way through. Sing each line and have ps repeat it afew times. When ps are fimiliar with the tune, give a demonstration of the song and do the actions.

- Get groups of ps to sit face and practicse singing and doing the actions.

- Call a group of four ps to the front of the class to sing the song. The rest of class claps along to the song.

Play the CD and have Ps repeat each line of the chant.

Then change the role.

-Focus Ps’ attention on the letters colored differently in the words reading and drawing

-Introduce the sounds ea/ i: / and aw / au / -Have Ps practice the sounds carefully

-Play the CD and have Ps read the chant in chorus.

-Ask Ps to give which sounds in Vietnamese are similar to, and then have Ps read words after you

+ Ask some pairs to ask and answer.

+ Have Ps recite the chant and clap the syllable to reinforce their pronunciation.

* Activity 2: (14’)

- Have pupils look at the sentences and guess the suitable words to fill in the blank.

- Play the recording 2 times pupils to listen and fill the blanks. Check their guess. Compare the answer with the partner.

- Play the recording again pupils check their answers. T give the answer:

- Have pupils act out the dialogue in pairs or groups for correction.

- Ask some questions to ensure pupils’ comprehension of the listening text.

Introduce the Chant.

- Turn on the tape.

- Ps listen to the tape and repeat the chant.

Tell ps that they are going to read the text and fill the gaps with the appropriate words. Give ps a few seconds to read the text in silence. Check comprehension. Get ps to work in pairs.

- Give ps time to do the task. Go around to offer help, if necessary.

- Get ps to swap and check their answwers before writing the correct answers on the bord. Ask ps to copy down the sentences into their notebooks.

- Call some ps to read the text and the completed sentences aloud

* Activity 2: (9’)

Tell ps that’s they are going to write the answ. Give a few minutes for ps to read the text again. Call a ps to give the answer of the first gap before starting the activityers.

- Give ps time to do the task. Get ps to work in pairs.

Go around to offer help, if necessary.

- Get ps to swap and check their answers before writing the correct anwers on the board for ps to copy down into their notebooks.

- Call a few ps to read aloud their writing.

5. Read and write

* Activity 3: (10’)

Tell ps that they are going to look at the pictures and tell what the children are doing. Then ps will give a presentation of their work to the class. Check understanding.

- Give ps time to do the project in class. Go around to offer help, if necessary.

- Call sevaral ps to the front of the class to give a presentation of their work. If there is not enough time, give the project as homework.

- Have ps draw one of the pictures and work in pairs to ask and answer questions about their picture.

e.g. This is my friend. Her name is Lan. She is lisening to music. What is your friend doing?

6. Project

- Have ps sing the song I love my parents or read the What are you doing? Chant to end the class.
