Lesson 3 I. Objectives:

1. Knowledge: After the lesson, Ss will be able to review the sound of the letter T, four Q words and recognize the corresponding pictures, write the letter T

2. Skills: listening, speaking, writing 3. Attitude: Ss like studying English II. Teaching aids:

T: Pictures, books, flash card SS: Ss’ book, activity book

III. Method: MAT, TPA.

IV/ Procedure:

1. Organization: (1’) - Greeting

- Check absent students

2. Warm up (5’)

- Play the song from the previous lesson.

- Ss listen and sing along.

3. New lesson

Activity 1: Thumbs Up or Down (5 mins) - Ask the students to close their books.

- Hold up the phonics cards one at a time.

- Ask the students to verify the word the teacher says by putting their thumbs up or down.

Activity 2 (8’)

- T explain the activity

- Put the phonics card (star, robot, tent) on the board.

- Writes 3 leter Ss, Rr, Ty

- Ask the students which one goes with letter S.

- Match letter S with the correct phonic card (star) and small letter s.

- Do the same with letter R, T

- Have the students do the same procedure in their book.

- Go around and give help as needed.

6. Circle the right letter

Activity 3 (8’)

- Show the Ss the tea phonics card. Point to it and say: /t/ tea. Ask them to repeat.

- Ss: read in chorus

- Mime cracking and beating eggs and say: /t/

tea. Encourage the Ss to do the same - Point to the pictures, Ss do corresponding

actions and say the words.

- Ss: so the action

Activity 4: (10’) Craftwork

- Ask Ss to take out their notebook then ask them to choose one word the draw the letter and the picture in their notebooks.

- Ss write on their notebook

- Tell them to colour the letter and the picture.

- Ss colour the letter and picture

- The Ss who finish will show their picture to the class.

- T comment

7. Listen, point and repeat. Colour the

pictures of the words that start with the t sound.

Say the t words

4. Consolidation (2’)

- Call Ss to retell what they’ve learn - Practice at home.

- Demonstrate how to write the big T by stroke - Ss look at the board

- Draw an example of letter T using dashed lines - Use a different colored chalk to model tracing

the letter T

- Have some students practice tracing letter T on the board

- Have students trace letter T in the books - Ss say /t/ after each finished letter

II.Writing & Reading

Activity Book p.16 Tracing & Matching (5’) - Put the phonics card on the board.

- Copy the box from task 2 in the book to the board.

- Demonstrate tracing the line of letter R, S, T using dashed lines.

- Ask the students which one goes with letter R.

- Match letter R with the correct phonic card (ROCKET) and small letter r.

III. Writing & Reading(p.17- Activity book) (6’)

- Copy the box from the book to the board - Has Ss read all the picture

- Tell Ss that you are going to look at the book and tick the correct picture.

- Point the picture queen and ask “what’s it?”,

“What the beginning of word”

- Ss say: letter T

- Then T tick in the circle.

Does the same with other pictures.

Reading (Page 17 – Activity Book) ) (8 ’ ) - Put the picture bon the board and ask “ what’s

this?”

- Ss look at the picture and answer

- T asks Ss to read 2 sentences and choose 1 sentence is true

- SS work individually

- T call somes Ss read aloud the answer

3.Write the letter Tt.

Tick the pictures of the words that start with the t sound

- Call Ss to retell what they’ve learn - Practice at home.
