Lesson 3 I. Objectives:

1. Knowledge: After the lesson, Ss will be able to review the sound of the letter V, four U words and recognize the corresponding pictures, write the letter V

2. Skills: listening, speaking, writing 3. Attitude: Ss like studying English II. Teaching aids:

T: Pictures, books, flash card SS: Ss’ book, activity book III. Method: MAT, TPA.

IV.Procedure:

1. Organization: (1’) - Greeting

2. Warm up (5’)

Play the song UNIT 9, ask students to sing along and do corresponding actions.

3. New lesson

Activity 1: Thumbs Up or Down (5 mins) - Ask the students to close their books.

- Hold up the phonics cards one at a time.

- Ask the students to verify the word the teacher says by putting their thumbs up or down.

Activity 2 (7’)

- Ask Ss to take out their colour pencils/ crayons.

-Ask the Ss “ what’s this?”

- Ss answer: it’s a van

- T ask Ss find the big V and small v then colour them - Ss colour the pictures individually

- T checks and give answer Activity 3 (8’)

- Show the Ss the omelette phonics card. Point to it

6. Colour the Vv letter

7. Listen, point and repeat.

- Ss: read in chorus

- Point to the pictures, Ss do corresponding actions and say the words.

Activity 4: (10’) Craftwork

- Ask Ss to take out their notebook then ask them to choose one word the draw the letter and the picture in their notebooks.

- Ss write on their notebook

- Tell them to colour the letter and the picture.

- Ss colour the letter and picture

- Ss who finish will show their picture to the class.

- T comment

Unit 10 letter W Lesson 1

I. Objectives:

1. knowledge: After the lesson, Ss will be able to recognize and pronounce the letter W and its sound correctly, understand, recognize and say the three W words.

1.Warm up (2’)

T has Ss sing a song in letter V 2.New lesson

Teacher’ and students Activities contents Activity 1: Presentation & Practice (10mins)

- T write on board the letter W to introduce to the students the new lesson.

- Instruct students how to pronounce the letter name and the letter sound

- T has Ss repeat several times and check students’

pronunciation - Ss: listen and repeat

- T uses the phonics cards with well, window, watch read the words out loud and has students repeat.

- Ss: listen and repeat

- T uses gestures to help students to understand the meanings of the three words.

- Stick the cards on board and have students repeat the words chorally several times (in the correct order and then in any order).

- Ss: read in chorus

- Call some students to say the words out loud and correct their mistakes (if any)

- Ask the students to open their books and colour in the letters

Activity 2: Sound and Word Game (3’)

- Divide the class into two teams, team A and team B.

- Put one of the phonics cards (e.g: well) on the board.

- Ask a student from Team A to identify the sound (one point), the picture (one point) or both (two points).

- Continue with a student from Team B.

- Write the points for each team on the board.

- Give feedback

Activity 3:( (10 mins)

- T has Ss look at the book and listen to the words:

the well, the watch, the window - Ss: look and listen

- T has Ss listen and repeat the words for several times.

- Ss: listen and repeat

- T has Ss to point to the corresponding item in the picture.

- Ss: +listen and point

+repeat with the rest of the items in random order.

- T gives Ss 3 minutes to colour the picture by using any colour they like.

- Go around the classroom asking students to name the item they are colouring.

Activity 4: (10mins)

- Use the phonics cards on the board and have

students sing the chant with well. Do the same with window and watch.

- Do the chant again using gestures for each word.

- Give feedback

III.Production (5mins)

Activity : Letter Writing Race Game - Ask the students to open their notebooks.

- Give the students 2 minutes to write as many Ss’s as they can.

- The winner is the student who has written the most.

- Call Ss to retell what they’ve learn - Practice at home.
