LESSON 1-2 I. AIMS:

1. Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, students can be able to:

 Recognize and pronounce the letter Kk and its sound correctly

 Understand, recognize and say the three Kk words

 Write the letter Kk Vocabulary:Kite, kitten, koala Sight words:The, has, a, fly

2. Skills: Reading, Listening, Speaking, Writing

3.Attitude: Recognize and pronounce the letter Kk and its sound

- Checking for the students' attendance.

Have another student read any word from the previous lesson (jam, jelly, juice, jacket)

Activity 1

1.Listen, point and repeat. Colour (Track 67): Introduction of letter Kk, its sound and how to pronounce the words beginning with Kk (6 mins)

Use a card with letter Kk (or write on board the letter Kk) to introduce to the students the new lesson.

Instruct students how to pronounce the letter name and the letter sound by saying:

“This is the letter K /keɪ/ The letter K says /k/.”

Repeat several times and check students’

pronunciation (letter K/ keɪ/ and its sound /k/)

Use the phonics cards with kite, kitten and koala, read the words out loud and have students repeat.

Use gestures (hand actions) to help

students to understand the meanings of the three words.

Kite: imitate flying a kite Kitten: mime “ meowing”

Juice: imitate hugging a tree

Stick the cards on board and have students repeat the words chorally several times (in the correct order and then in any order).

Call some students to say the words out loud and correct their mistakes (if any) Activity 2

2.Listen and point. Colour. (Track 68:(6 mins)

Have students look at the book and listen to the expression: “The kitten has a kite.

Fly the kite, The koala has a kite. Fly the kite”, point to the object when they hear

Have students listen and repeat the words for several times

3. Chant and show! (Track 63) (6 mins) Act it out

Read the word and ask students to listen and do the gestures for 3 words kite, kitten and koala.

Change role: teachers does the actions, students look and call out the words Chant and show

Use the phonics cards on the board and have students sing the chant with kite. Do the same with kitten and koala.

The whole class sings the whole chant. Do the chant again using gestures for each word.

Activity 4

4. Listen And Read Along (Track 70) (6 mins)

Encourage the students to point to the picture of the word that the teacher says.

Play the CD. Have the students listen to the story once.

Play the CD again. The students listen and point to the pictures of the key words when they hear them in the story

Read the story. The students follow their books.

Teacher reads the printed words then let the students look at the pictures and say the words.

Ask students work in pairs. One reads while the other checks, then they change roles. Or one reads the printed words while the other looks at the pictures and

Sight words

Read the sight words : the, has, a, fly

Ask students to listen and repeat 3 Chant and show! (Track 63)

K kite!

K, k, k, kite!

Kite, k, k. k!

4. Listen And Read Along (Track 70)

Look at the kite.

The kitten has a kite.

The koala has a kite.

Fly the kite,kitten!

Activity 5

5. Song (Track 71) (6 mins)

Put up the kite, kitten and koala phonics cards on the board.

Point to the koala and say: “the koala has a kitten”. The students repeat.

Follow the same procedure and present the rest of the song.

Play the CD. The students listen and sing along.

Play the CD again. The students sing and do corresponding actions.

5. Song

4.Consolidation: (1min)

- In this lesson, pupils have learnt: recognize and say the Kk word 5. Homework:( 2mins)

- Prepare next lesson 6. Evaluation
