Lesson 4

I.AIMS

1. Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, students will able practice the letter, sound and three words buy some activities

2. Skills: - Develop Ss listening & speaking skill

3. Attitude: - Help Ss to be more confident to communicate in English II. TEACHING AIDS

1. Teacher’s: Lesson plan, books, pictures, speakers, computer.

2. Students’: Books, notebooks, workbooks.

Activity: Revision of letter J, its sound(5’) Speaking

- Write on the board the big J and small j - Point to the letter J and say out loud “This is

the letter J/dʒeɪ/The letter J says /dʒ/.”

- Point to the letter j and say out loud “This is the letter j /dʒeɪ/The letter j says /dʒ/.”

- Have the class repeat its sound chorally, then individually

- Have the students say the sound

- Demonstrate how to write the big J by stroke

- Draw an example of letter J using dashed lines

LETTER Kk Lesson 1(1,2,3)

I. AIMS

1. Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, students can be able to recognize and pronounce the letter Kk and its sound correctly, understand, recognize and say the three Kk words. Write the letter Kk

2. Skills: - Develop students’ listening, reading, writing and speaking skill.

3. Attitude:- Help students’ to be more confident to communicate in English.

II. TEACHING AIDS

1. Teacher’s: Lesson plan, books, computer, speakers, projector.

2. Students’: Books, notebooks, workbooks.

2. Warm up: (5’)

- Put up 4 phonics cards from the previous unit on the board.

- Choose 4 students to go to the board and make a line in front of the board.

- Choose a student to be “Memory Master”.

- The 4 students choose a phonics card and say the word (without touching the cards- each student chooses one phonic card)

- The “Memory Master” must hand correct phonics cards to each student.

3. New lesson:

Activity 1: Listen, point and repeat. Colour.

( 7 mins)

- Write on the board the letter K to introduce - to the students the new lesson.

- Instruct students how to pronounce the letter name and the letter sound by saying: “This is the letter K

- Repeat several times and check students’

pronunciation (letter K and its sound /k/) Use the phonics cards with Kite, kitten, koala read the words out loud and ask students to repeat.

- Use gestures (hand actions) to help students to understand the meanings of the three words.

- Check students’ understanding: Teacher says the words, all students do actions and vice versa.

Activity: Memory Game (3’)

Put the phonics cards of Kite, kitten, koala, K on the board

- Ask students to memorize the order of these cards

- Ask students to close their eyes, remove one phonics card randomly and ask individual students to name it.

- Continue changing the other cards.

Activity 2: Listen and point. Colour. (5’) Have students look at the books and listen to the words: The, has, a, fly

- Use gestures (hand actions) to help Students to understand the meanings of commands

Ask students repeat by using the phonics cards Kite, kitten, koala combining with gestures - asking students to name the items they are

- Put the 3 phonics cards on the board in this

Activity 3: Chant and show! (Track 63) (5 mins)

Act it out

- Read the word and ask students to listen and do the gestures for 3 words kite, kitten and koala.

- Change role: teachers does the actions, students look and call out the words Chant and show

- Use the phonics cards on the board and have students sing the chant with kite. Do the same with kitten and koala.

- The whole class sings the whole chant. Do the chant again using gestures for each word.

- Give feedback

Activity : Writing in the air(5’)

- Show the letter Kk again, have students write the Kk in air with their fingers.
