-  Write 2 letters on the board and then say a word beginning with one of their sounds.

-  Have the students race to the board, touch that letter, and say the correct sound.

- The first student to touch the letter and say the sound gets a point for their team.

- Continue with other students.

- Have students sing the songs of letters ‘g’ and ‘h’ again (unit 5 - lesson 2).

1. Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, students will able to recognize and pronounce the letter Uu and its sound correctly, understand, recognize and say the three Uu words, write the letter Uu.

2. Skills: - Develop students’ listening, reading, writing and speaking skill.

3. Attitude: Help Ss to be more confident to communicate in English.

Show the students the under phonics card. Point to it and say: /V/ - under. Ask them to repeat.

Point under the desk and say: /V/ - under. Encourage the students to do the same

Say the letter. The students perform the action and say the letter and the word (if they can).

Play the CD. The students listen, point to and repeat the word.

Point to the picture and have students name them.

Allow the students some time to colour in the pictures of words start with the /V/ sound.

Go around the classroom providing any necessary help.

Activity: Run and Touch(10’)

Divide the class into two teams A and B.

Put up the phonics cards (cards from Part 6) on the board.

Say one of the words. Two students , one from each team, call out the word when they race to touch the corresponding card.

The first students to touch the card wins a point for his/ her team.

The team with more points wins.

Tell the students to listen for words that begin with the /V/ sound.

Ask the students to stand when they hear the words beginning with /V/ sound and sit when they hear words beginning with another sound.

Slowly say: ugly, up, ring, snake, umbrella, under, tiger

Repeat the activity by saying the words quickly and ask the students to circle the correct pictures.

Go around the classroom and provide any necessary help.

Activity 4. Draw and color (page 19 – Activity book) (8’) Explain the activity

Read the words

Ask the students to use their pencils to draw an umbrella and a tent in the provided spaces.

The student finishes first will raise his/ her hand and shows his/ her pictures to the teacher.

When they are familiar with the rhythm, show them how to say the chant and do the actions.
