- Have students hold the flashcards to match the vocabulary on the board and speak out the vocabulary.

1. CD1-63: Arrange the flashcards on the board. Play audio and have students listen and point to the pictures in their books.

2.  Play audio again and have students listen, repeat several times.

3.  Change the order of the flashcards, point to them individually and have students say the words, correct pronunciation when needed.

4. TPR practice: say the word and do the gestures/ sounds according to the word (Ex: cat- meow, use hands to make the whiskers/ claws

* Option 1: Play "Heads up. What's Missing?"

- Divide the class into two teams.

- Arrange the flashcards on the board and remove one card when students are not looking.

- One student from each team calls out the missing flashcard.

* Option 2: Play the game “Who is faster?”.

- Divide the class into groups.

- Arrange the flashcards on the board.

- Invite a student from each group to come on the board.

- Teacher says a word and the students run to tap the right card.

1. Pre- listening. Introduce the situation: ask students some questions about the pictures, e.g.

4. Play audio again. Have students listen and point.

- Ask the students to take out their colour pencils/ crayons.

- Stick the cards of the upper letter and the same lower letter on the board in the correct order

- The students will stand if the letters go together in the wrong order. They will stay sitting if the letters are in the correct order.

*Activity: Chinese Whispers Game (5’)

- Divide the class into 2 or 4 teams with the same numbers of students in each team.

- The first student of each team runs to the teacher (at the same time); teacher whispers a word/words to them.

- The first student whispers the word/words to the student sitting next to or behind him/her and so on.

- The last students say the word/words aloud.

Activity 7. Listen, point and repeat. Colour the pictures of the words that start with the s sound.

Say the s words. (Track 39) (8’)

- Show the students the seal  phonics card. Point to it and say: /s/ - seal. Ask them to repeat.

- Clap your hands together while making a high pitch bark and say: /s/ - seal. Encourage the students to do the same.

- Ask the students to take out their colour pencils/ crayons

- Point to the pictures, the students do corresponding actions and say the words.

- Give the students 2 minutes to colour in the pictures of the words that begin with the /s/ sound.

- Go around the classroom providing any necessary help.

* Disabilities Ss: Colour with teacher's help.

Activity: Craftwork (8’) 

- Ask the students to take out their notebooks.

- Ask them to choose one word the draw the letter and the picture in their notebooks.

- Tell them to colour the letter and the picture.

- The three first students who finish will show their picture to the class.

- Have the students say the sound individually, correct the pronunciation if necessary

- Demonstrate how to write the big S by stroke - Draw an example of letter S using dashed lines

Wrap-up

* Option 1: Letter chain

Place letter cards from A to E on the board.

Ask one student to say the first letter.

Ask another student to say the next letter.

Continue with each student saying the next letter in the sequence, returning to the beginning when necessary.

Remove one letter. The class repeats the sequence, including the missing letter.

Remove one more letter each time, until students are saying the whole letters from their memory.     

* Option 2: Find the letter

Stick each letter cards (Aa- E e) on a small plastic ball. Put all the balls into a basket.

Arrange the students in two lines.

Say one of the letters.

Have the first students in the lines race to the basket to find the ball with correct letter.

The student who finds the ball first and names it correctly gets a point for his/her team.

I. AIMS

1. Knowledge: By the end of this lesson, Students will be able to identifying school things.

2. Skills: - Develop Ss speaking and listening skills 3. Attitude: Ss like the subject.

Activity 1: Look, listen and repeat(7’)

* Set the scene:       

- T uses the picture of the dialogue on page 52(Student book 1) to lead Ss in the conversation - Ask students to look at the 4 pictures  in the book and check comprehension by eliciting the answers for these questions.

   T: Who are they?

    Ss: They are Linda  and a robot.

    T: Where are they?

    Ss: They are in the classroom.

   T: What are they talking about?

   Ss: They are talking about school things.

- Play the recording all the way throught for Ss to listen and follow in their book.

- Play the recording again for Ss repeat the text several times.( line by line in the bubbles).

- Point to the picture for Ss to read the dialogue  again - Have Ss to find out the new structure.

Activity 2. Point and say.(15’) a. Prestenting new words.

Have pupils look at pictures on Page 52 Elicit the characters in the pictures and their names.

Vocabulary:

rubber.(picture) pencil case. .(picture) schoolbag .(picture) notebook.(picture)

- T models  - Ss listen and repeat.

       + WC

       + Groups( Optional)        + Individual

- T writes the word on the board.

- Do the same way with other words.

Check vocabs: What and where - T asks Ss to copy down.

b. Sentence Pattern:

* Prestenting model sentences.

- Point to the first picture  and elicit the

 name to fill in the gap. Put the sentence on the board: 

and have Ss repeat them several times.

- Check the form/ use/ meaning/ intonation

* Practice.

- Tell Ss that they are going to practice saying:

This is my pencil./ That’s my pencil.

- T reads – Ss listen & repeat.

- Replace the addresses by doing choral and individual repetition, using the pictures in the book.

- T asks Ss point and say.      

- T and good students model.

Call several pairs to act out the dialogue in front of the class.
