1. Warm-up (5’)

* Option 1: Review. Introduce family.

- Have students bring photos of their families.

- Have them work in pairs, introduce their family to their partners.

- Have some students demonstrate the activity in front of the class.

* Option 2: Singing.

- Have students listen and sing the song of lesson 1 - part C and add more lyrics to the song “This is my brother. This is my sister.”

2. Presentation (30’)

A. Listen and point. Repeat. (10’) CD1-Track 25:

- Have students listen to each new word.

- Have students listen to each new word and repeat all together and individually. Correct student’s pronunciation if necessary.

- Arrange the flashcards on the board. Play audio and have students listen and point at the pictures in their books.

- Play audio again and have students listen, repeat several times.

- Change the order of the flashcards, point at them individually and have students say the words, correct pronunciation when needed.

- Have students work in pairs, one points at the picture in the book and the other says the word - TPR practice step 1: say the word and make the gesture/ sound all together according to the word

- TPR practice step 2: do the actions and students say the word accordingly

- TPR practice step 3: have students work in pairs, 1 would do the action, the other say the word Activities: (optional)

* Option 1: Play "Heads up. What's Missing?"

- Divide the class into two teams.

- Arrange the flashcards on the board and remove one card when students are not looking.

- One student from each team calls out the missing flashcard.

* Option 2: Play the game “Who is faster?”.

- Divide the class into groups.

- Arrange the flashcards on the board.

- Invite a student from each group to go to the board.

- Teacher says a word and the students run to tap the right card.

1. Pre- listening: Introduce the situation, point at each person/things in the picture and have students call out the words.

2. While- listening:

- Play audio and have students look at the picture.

- Demonstrate the activity by pointing at the things in the picture.

3. While-listening: Play the audio again. Have students listen and repeat.

4. While-listening: Play audio again. Have students listen and point.

5. Post- listening: Point at each picture and have students call out the words again “pencil/ book/

- Play audio Part C and have students sing the song.

- Have some students sing in front of the class.

2. New lesson (30’) D- Point and say. (10’) Practice (optional)

1.  Show a flashcard to the class.

2.  Have students practice the structure using the new word.

3.  Repeat with other flashcards.

e.g. (Teacher shows the flashcard "pencil") -  Class: “It’s a pencil.”

Point and say:

1. Divide the class into pairs.

2. Have Student A point to the pictures and Student B say “It’s a pencil/…”.

3. Swap roles and repeat.

4.  Afterwards, have some pairs demonstrate the activity in front of the class.

E- Play “Guess the object.” (10’) 1. Divide the class into pairs.

3.  Have Student A cover their eyes while Student B gives them an object to touch.

4. Have Student A try to guess what the object is.

5.  Have students swap roles and repeat.

- Have students call out the people they can see.

- Play audio and have students listen and read.

- Have students practice the useful language.

"Hot seat" game (5’)

- Divide the class into teams.

- Have a student from each team sit on the chair facing the classroom with the board behind them.

- Teacher writes a word on the board.

- Have the other students describe the word.

- Give the first team to guess correctly one point. The team that gets the most points wins.

E. Play the "Chain" game. (5’) - Have students look at the example.

- Divide the class into groups of four.

- Have the students stand up.

- Have Student A turn to Student B and ask the question, then have Student B answer.

- Next, have Student B turn to Student C and ask the question, then have Student C answer.

- Continue until all students have practiced.

- Have some groups demonstrate the activity in front of the class.

- Take away two chairs and suddenly stop music. Have students sit on any chairs. The two students who have no chairs to sit on will make questions and answers.

- Swap roles and continue.

Play “Pass the balls” game

- Give two different colored balls to two students, a red ball (ask the question) and a yellow ball (answer the question).

- Have students listen to music and pass the balls.

- Stop music suddenly.

- Have the student with a red ball make a question for the child who has yellow ball.

E.g Student with the red ball will ask “What’s your name?” The child with the yellow ball will answer his/ her friend’s question “My name is (Vinh).”.

2. Presentation (30’)

A. Listen and point. Repeat. (10’)       

- Use some pictures to introduce the shapes (circle, square, rectangle, triangle).

- Have students listen to each new word.

- Have students listen to each new word and repeat all together and individually. Correct student’s pronunciation if necessary.

- Arrange the flashcards on the board, play audio, and point to each flashcard.

- Play audio again and have students point to the numbers in their books.

- Play audio again and have students listen and repeat. 

- Have students work in pairs, one points to the shapes and one says the words. Swap roles and continue.

Ask Ss to repeat a few times.

Call on two pairs to play roles.

Ask Ss to practice in pairs.

- Have the whole class repeat all the phrases a few times to reinforce their pronunciation.

2. 2. Point and say ( 10’)

- Ask Sts to look at the pictures on page 24 and identify the characters . Explain the pattern:

+ Who is that?

+ It's Mr Loc.

Ss: Work in pairs.

Ask Ss about what they fill in the blanks.

Ask Sts to work in pair.

Call on some pair s to perform the task.

-  Comment and correct the mistake.

3. Practise (7’)

Asks Ss to look at the pictures on page 24 and indentify the characters.

Guide Ss to practice introducing some new friends.

Ss: work in pairs.

Asks Ss practice in small groups.

4. Application ( 3’)

Ss do the worksheet about numbers 5. Summary( 2')

Review the lesson.

Educate Ss how to make friends.

Ask Ss to further practice at home.
