Lesson 3
I. OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, Ps will be able to:
- Recognize and pronounce the letter Xx and its sound correctly.
- Understand, recognize and say the three Xx words.

1. Organization (1’):
- Greet Ps.
- Check Ps’ attendance.

2. Warm up (4’): Unscramble the words
- Put up the ox, box, taxi phonics cards on the board.
- Write the letters of the words around them in random order.
- Ask individual students to come to the board and write the words.
- Play the song from Unit 2 (Track 71), the students listen and sing along.
3. New lesson (25’):

- Point to the letters and elicit the sounds for each.
- Ask the students to listen and tick the sounds they hear.
- Go around the classroom providing any necessary help.

Extension: Which One Is Missing? Game (5 ’ ) - Put the phonics cards (ox, box, taxi, watermelon,
vase…) on the board.
- Give the Ps 10 seconds to look at the cards.
- Have Ps close their eyes and then you take away one cards.
- Tell the Ps to open their eyes and name the missing cards.
Activity 2 (8’):
- Show the students the six phonics card. Point to it and say: /ks/ - six. Ask them to repeat.
- Mime writing the number six and say: /ks/ - six.
Encourage the students to do the same.
- Say the letter. The students perform the action and say the letter and the word (if they can).
- Play the CD. The students listen, point to and repeat the word.
- Point to the picture and have students name them.
- Allow the students some time to colour in the pictures of words start with the /ks/ sound.
Go around the classroom providing any necessary help.

Follow up (5’): get Ps to choose one word then draw the letter X and the picture of the item in their notebooks.
7. Listen, point and repeat. Colour the pictures of the words that start with the x sound. Say the x words.

4. Consolidation (5’): Practice writing - Divide class into 3 groups.
- Ask a student of each group to come to the board.
- Show the picture of a taxi/ ox/ box/ van/ watch/ well….to the class.
- The groups look and say the name of the word. The Ps on the board listen and write the correct word.
- Ask the rest of the class for correction.
5. Homework:Ask Ps to practice writing the letter Xx and the word at home.

Lesson 4
1. OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to:
- Review the sound of the letter Xx, four Xx words and recognize the corresponding pictures
- Write the letter Xx.

Extension: Which way is right? (5’)
- Write the four words ox, box, taxi, six on four papers.
- Stick each page to each corner of the classroom.
- Ask the students to stand up.
- Say the name of an item and ask the students to face their faces to the corner with the corresponding word.

- Explain the activity.
- Ask the students to join the dots to complete the picture.
- Ask them to say what it is.
- Allow them to colour the picture (taxi) if they want.

- Continue with a student from team B.
- Write the points for each team on the board.
- The team with more points wins.
5. Homework: Ask students to revise the lesson at home.
