STORY TIME

I. Aims: - to consolidate the sound of the letters Rr, Ss, Tt and Uu and the corresponding words; to learn and practise reading skills

V. Procedures

Teacher’s activities Students’ activities 1. Warm up: (5’)

- Greet students

Play game: mime - Put up the phonics cards on the board. Name the items, one at a time.

- The pupils mime the corresponding action and say the sound of the letter.-Review Line up Ss into 2 teams

- Give feedback.

2. Presentation & Practice: (24’) - Have SS do in their Activity books.

- Go around the class to help Ss if any necessary 3. Production: (10’)

- Play game: Hot cards

Have Ss sit in a circle. Hand out the phonics cards to three ss.

Play the song. While the song is playing , Ss pass the phonics cards around.When the song stops, Ss holding the PC must name them.

I. Objectives:

* Handicapped Ss: will be able to do the tasks with teacher’s help.

* Vocabulary: rabbit, rocket, robot, ring, sun, snake, star,seal, tree, tent, tiger, tea, up, umbrella, ugly, under

* Intergrate skills: Reading, Listening, Speaking, Writing.

- Prepare some phonics cards from Units 5-8.

- Hand out the cards to various students.

- Teacher say out the sound, the students holding the cards with that sound come to give the cards to the teacher.

2. Presentation & Practice.

1. Act 1. Circle the right letters. Say the letter and the sound – Pupil’s book- page 40 (6’)

- Explain the activity.

- Ask the students to look at the pictures and circle the corresponding upper case and lower case letters.

- Say the letter and the sound.

- Go around the classroom to provide any necessary help, ask individual students to say out the letter and the sound.

V. Procedure

1. Warm-up (5’) Activity: Guess

- Divide the class into two teams, A and B

- Ask a student from one team to come to the board - Whisper one of the vocabulary words (from unit 5-8)

to the student.

- Without speaking, the student draw a picture of the - word on the board

- The first team to guess the word correctly wins a point.

- Repeat the activity with a student from the other team.

- The team with more points wins the game.

2. Revision & Practice:

1. Say the words. Colour the pictures beginning with the sound. – Activity book- page 20 (10’)

- Elicit the letters and their sounds E.g. letter R says /n/

- Point to each picture and elicit the letter, the sound and the name of the item

E.g. R- /n/- rabbit

- Ask the students to trace the letters and colour in the pictures.

- Tell the students that they can draw a heart next to the picture they like most.

- Go around the classroom to provide any necessary help, ask individual students to say out the sound or the items then give out some comments or compliments.
